Application of Positive End-Expiratory Pressure (PEEP) in Patients During Prolonged Gynecological Surgery

open access: yesActa Medica Bulgarica, 2019
Introduction: A lot of clinical studies have shown that during prolonged surgery protective ventilation strategy, including low tidal volume, PEEP and recruitment maneuvers (RM) can reduce the rate of postoperative pulmonary complications, which are the ...

Higher PEEP improves outcomes in ARDS patients with clinically objective positive oxygenation response to PEEP: a systematic review and meta-analysis

open access: yesBMC Anesthesiology, 2018
Background Mortality in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) remains high. These patients require mechanical ventilation strategies that include high positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP).

Passivation‐Induced Species Dynamics and Microstructural Evolution in Solid‐State Lithium–Sulfur Cathodes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The formation of insulating Li2S during discharge in solid‐state lithium–sulfur batteries passivate reaction sites and limits sulfur utilization. In this work, a microstructure‐resolved modeling framework coupling transport and reaction kinetics is developed to predict charge–discharge behavior and reveal particle‐scale species evolution and incomplete

Temporal Interference Stimulation Enhances Neural Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Temporal interference (TI) stimulation is proposed as a non‐invasive approach to enhance neural regeneration in the deep brain. Theta‐band TI modulation selectively promotes neural progenitor cell differentiation in vitro and augments hippocampal neurogenesis in amouse model of Alzheimer's disease‐like amyloidosis.
