The assertion by Dr Thiadens and colleagues1that identification of airflow limitation and estimation of its reversibility by a bronchodilator is less reliable when measured by peak expiratory flow (PEF) than by forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) cannot be allowed to go unchallenged.

Compatibilization of Polylactide/Poly(ethylene 2,5-furanoate) (PLA/PEF) Blends for Sustainable and Bioderived Packaging [PDF]
Despite the advantages of polylactide (PLA), its inadequate UV-shielding and gas-barrier properties undermine its wide application as a flexible packaging film for perishable items.

Analisis Perbedaan Peak Expiratory Flow (PEF) Pada Atlet Olahraga Renang dan Lari
Background: Asthma is a chronic disease that can be found in all ages. Basic Health Research Data (RISKESDAS) 2013 shows the prevalence in Indonesia of 4.5%. Asthma affects the expiratory rate in the lungs. PEF is the maximum expiratory speed that can be

Relation of changes in PEF and FEV1 during bronchodilation in children [PDF]
INTRODUCTION Asthma diagnosis can be confirmed through the observation of significant bronchodilator response (BDR) measured by peak expiratory flow (PEF) during home monitoring or by forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) with spirometry in a ...

Reliability of PEF diaries [PDF]
The paper by Kamps et al reported that peak expiratory flow (PEF) diaries kept by asthmatic children were unreliable.1 They found that about 25% of readings recorded by an electronic meter were not identical to those written in the diary. The Vitalograph 2110 meter was used for this study with subjects recording the best of three blows on each occasion.
