Transient Stiffness Patterning in Hydrogels Driven by Dissipative Mechanochemical Coupling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Force‐induced disulfide bond rupture in a polymer‐based hydrogel, coupled with chemical or electrochemical reoxidation, leads to the transient modulation of the hydrogel's stiffness properties. High spatiotemporal control is achieved by this dissipative process, enabling the development of out‐of‐equilibrium stiffness patterns and transient, dose ...

Potential Use of Folate-polyethylene glycol (PEG)-Appended Dendrimer (G3) Conjugate with alpha-Cyclodextrin as DNA Carriers to Tumor Cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We previously reported that polyamidoamine STARBURST dendrimer (generation 3, G3) (dendrimer) conjugate with alpha-cyclodextrin (alpha-CyD) having an average degree of substitution of 2.4 of alpha-CyD (alpha-CDE) provided remarkable aspects as novel ...

Spectroscopic direct detection of reflected light from extra-solar planets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
At optical wavelengths, an exoplanet's signature is essentially reflected light from the host star - several orders of magnitude fainter. Since it is superimposed on the star spectrum its detection has been a difficult observational challenge.

Ultrasoft Iontronics: Stretchable Diodes Enabled by Ionically Conductive Bottlebrush Elastomers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a solvent‐free, ultrasoft, and stretchable ionic diode based on oppositely charged bottlebrush elastomers (BBEs). The BBE diode exhibits an ultralow Young's modulus (<23 kPa), a high rectification ratio of 46, and stretchability over 400%.

Polymeric micelles for the ocular delivery of triamcinolone acetonide: preparation and in vivo evaluation in a rabbit ocular inflammatory model

open access: yesDrug Delivery, 2020
The aim of this study was to prepare triamcinolone acetonide (TA)-loaded poly(ethylene glycol)-block-poly(ε-caprolactone) (PEG-b-PCL) and poly(ethylene glycol)-block-poly(lactic acid) (PEG-b-PLA) micelles as a potential treatment of ocular inflammation ...

Cardiovascular Safety of Prucalopride in Patients with Chronic Constipation:A Multinational Population-Based Cohort Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
INTRODUCTION: The serotonin 5-HT4 receptor agonist prucalopride is approved in the European Union for the treatment of chronic constipation. This offered the unique opportunity to include real-world observational data on cardiovascular safety in the new ...

The Preparation and Characterization of Immobilized TiO2/PEG by Using DSAT as a Support Binder

open access: yes, 2016
Immobilized TiO2 was prepared by adding a small composition of polyethylene glycol (PEG) as a binder, and this paper reported for the very first time the formation of C=O from oxidized PEG, which acted as an electron injector in enhancing photoactivity ...

A Universal Biomimetic Approach for Making Artificial Antigen‐Presenting Cells for T Cell Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows a biomimetic silica microcapsule (SMC) fabrication method under mild conditions for making artificial antigen‐presenting cells (aAPCs). Inspired by marine biomineralization, peptide‐mediated biosilicification enables silica shell formation on emulsion templates. The resulting SMCs possess a core–shell structure, controlled fluorescence

Dual-targeted polyplexes based on sequence-defined peptide-PEG-oligoamino amides.

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Science, 2015
For active cell targeting, viruses frequently capitalize on dual-receptor binding. With the intention to mimic this natural process, a dual peptide-based approach for targeting cancer cells was evaluated.
