Structure of aggregations and principal populational characteristics of redfish Sebastes mentella (Scorpaeniformes: Scorpaenidae) in the pelagic zone of the Irminger Sea and adjacent waters

Journal of Ichthyology, 2009
The spatial distribution of redfish Sebastes mentella in the pelagic zone of the northern part of the Atlantic Ocean (the Irminger Sea and the Labrador Sea) is investigated. Analysis of the data on size-age composition, sex ratio, ratio of mature and immature specimens, rate of maturation, composition of the parasite fauna, infestation level ...

Characterization of the pelagic ecosystem in surface waters of the northern Gulf of St, Lawrence in early summer: the larval redfish‐Calanus‐microplankton interaction

Fisheries Oceanography, 1996
ABSTRACTIn June 1989, the water column along a transect in the north‐central Gulf of St Lawrence was thermally stratified (10–14oC at the surface; 0‐loC at 30 m). In the surface layer, nitrate and chlorophyll concentrations were very low; the mean concentration of chlorophyll a > 5 μm in the subsurface maximum was 0.26 μg1‐1.

Beaked redfish (Sebastes mentella)in Subareas V, XII, and XIV and NAFO Subareas 1+2 (Shallow pelagic stock < 500 m)

2022
ICES  advises  on  the  basis  of  the  precautionary  approachthat  no  directed  fishery  should  be  conducted in  2015and bycatch of this stock in non-directed fisheries should be kept as low as possible.

Beaked redfish (Sebastes mentella) in Subareas V, XII, and XIV and NAFO Subareas 1+2 (Deep pelagic stock > 500 m)

2022
ICES advises  on  the  basis  of  precautionary  considerationsthat  catches  in  2015  of  deep  pelagic S.  mentellabe significantly reduced since indices from surveys and the fishery suggest that the stock has declined substantial prior to 2005 and continues to decline.

Adult Redfish, Sebastes mentella, Pelagic over Oceanic Depths in the Labrador Sea

Journal of the Fisheries Research Board of Canada, 1967
Fifteen adult redfish were taken on floating longlines set at 180–460 m, July 16–19, 1965 and two on March 21 and 24, 1966 on floating longlines set at 180–550 m at the mid-mouth of the Labrador Sea over depths of 3060–3660 m. Additionally two were taken from a porbeagle's stomach in the same area on August 23, 1965.

Distribution Of Pelagic Redfish (S. Mentella Travin), At Depth Below 500 M, In The Irminger Sea And Adjacent Waters In May 1998

1998
No abstracts are to be cited without prior reference to the author.During recent years, fishery for oceanic redfish in the Irminger Sea has shifted towards greater depths while acoustic estimates of the stock only reach down to approximately 500 m depth. This paper describes the distribution of redfish, at depths below 500 m in the northern part of the

Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Iceland request to ICES on evaluation of a proposed harvest control rule for deep pelagic redfish in the Irminger Sea and adjacent waters

2022
ICES has reanalysed the survey time-series, which is the main source of information for the assessment. This changed the perception of stock status and productivity: The stock appears to be at a historical low. ICES has also evaluated the proposed harvest control rules, and none of them are expected to lead to an increase in stock size by 2025 ...
