Characterization of the pelagic ecosystem in surface waters of the northern Gulf of St, Lawrence in early summer: the larval redfish‐Calanus‐microplankton interaction

Fisheries Oceanography, 1996
ABSTRACTIn June 1989, the water column along a transect in the north‐central Gulf of St Lawrence was thermally stratified (10–14oC at the surface; 0‐loC at 30 m). In the surface layer, nitrate and chlorophyll concentrations were very low; the mean concentration of chlorophyll a > 5 μm in the subsurface maximum was 0.26 μg1‐1.

Structure of aggregations and principal populational characteristics of redfish Sebastes mentella (Scorpaeniformes: Scorpaenidae) in the pelagic zone of the Irminger Sea and adjacent waters

Journal of Ichthyology, 2009
The spatial distribution of redfish Sebastes mentella in the pelagic zone of the northern part of the Atlantic Ocean (the Irminger Sea and the Labrador Sea) is investigated. Analysis of the data on size-age composition, sex ratio, ratio of mature and immature specimens, rate of maturation, composition of the parasite fauna, infestation level ...

Adult Redfish, Sebastes mentella, Pelagic over Oceanic Depths in the Labrador Sea

Journal of the Fisheries Research Board of Canada, 1967
Fifteen adult redfish were taken on floating longlines set at 180–460 m, July 16–19, 1965 and two on March 21 and 24, 1966 on floating longlines set at 180–550 m at the mid-mouth of the Labrador Sea over depths of 3060–3660 m. Additionally two were taken from a porbeagle's stomach in the same area on August 23, 1965.

The feeding ecology of larval and pelagic juvenile redfish (Sebastes SPP.) on Flemish Cap (47 N, 45 W)

2008
The copepod Calanus finmarchicus dominated the biomass of all invertebrate zooplankton species sampled on Flemish Cap during 1977-1983 as sampled by both coarse (0.333 mm and 0.505 mm) and fine (0.165 mm) mesh samples. Oithona similis and Oithoma atlamtica were numerically dominant in fine mesh samples. Significant differences were observed in the rate

2022
ICES advises on the basis of the precautionary approachthat no directed fishery should be conducted in 2015and bycatch of this stock in non-directed fisheries should be kept as low as possible.
