Ordnung: Pelecaniformes – Pelikanverwandte

2020

Beyond phylogeny: pelecaniform and ciconiiform birds, and long-term niche stability

Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, 2013
Phylogenetic trees are a starting point for the study of further evolutionary and ecological questions. We show that for avian evolutionary relationships, improved taxon sampling, longer sequences and additional data sets are giving stability to the prediction of the grouping of pelecaniforms and ciconiiforms, thus allowing inferences to be made about ...

Microsatellite primers for relatedness and population structure in great frigatebirds (Pelecaniformes: Fregatidae)

Molecular Ecology Resources, 2008
AbstractEighteen moderately polymorphic microsatellite loci were isolated and characterized for great frigatebirds Fregata minor. Polymorphism for the 12 dinucleotide and six tetranucleotide markers was assessed in 23 birds from a Hawaii population. Allelic diversity ranged from two to 12 (mean 5.9), with observed heterozygosity from 0.304 to 0.956 ...

Notes on the Phylogeny of the Pelecaniformes

The Auk, 1947
CERTAIN aspects of the phylogeny of the order Pelecaniformes are obscured by the arrangement of its three living suborders in fi•e standard classifications. The sequence as given by Wetmore (1940) and Peters (1931)is: PHAJ•THONTES (Tropic-birds), PELECANI (Pelicans, Boobies, Cormorants, Snake-birds), and FREGATAE (Frigatebirds).

Forelimb skeletal morphology and flight mode evolution in pelecaniform birds

Zoology, 2010
The total length and mid-shaft diameters of wing elements of 50 species of pelecaniform birds were examined to investigate how forelimb skeletal morphology varies with body size and flight mode within this group. Pelecaniforms were assigned to flight mode categories based on primary habitual behaviors (soar, flap-glide, continuous flap). Allometric and

THE PIAGETIELLA (MALLOPHAGA: MENOPONIDAE) OF THE PELECANIFORMES

The Canadian Entomologist, 1970
AbstractEight species of the genus Piagetiella are discussed and illustrated. There are two new synonymies: P. africana (Bedford) (= Tetrophthalmus australis Bedford) and P. titan (Piaget) (= Tetrophthalmus subtitan Bedford). A key is given to the species.

THE COLPOCEPHALUM (MALLOPHAGA: MENOPONIDAE) OF THE PELECANIFORMES

The Canadian Entomologist, 1967
AbstractFive species of the genus are discussed and illustrated, including a new species, C. occidentalis from Pelecanus occidentalis. The lectotype is designated for C. unciferum Kellogg, fixing the type-host as Pelecanus erythrorhynchos. A key is given to the species.

Характеристика отрядов Podicipediformes, Pelecaniformes columbiformes, Coraciiformes фауны Республики Молдова

Actual problems of zoology and parasitology: achievements and prospects, 2018
Ecological fields of territorial units are populated by closely related species of birds by complimentary conditions. Their composition is determined by the form and power of contact of their areas with the territory, the stability of the links between them, the variability of the habitat, ecological features, adaptability and species strategy.

Giant late Eocene marine birds (Pelecaniformes: Pelagornithidae) from northwestern Oregon

Journal of Paleontology, 1989
Fossil bird bones from the late Eocene Keasey Formation and the latest Eocene Pittsburg Bluff Formation in northwestern Oregon are the earliest records of the pelecaniform family Pelagornithidae for the Pacific Basin. These fossils also represent the first late Eocene records of the family from the Northern Hemisphere, the second late Eocene record ...
