We show that the set of Lebesgue integrable functions in $[0,1]$ which are nowhere essentially bounded is spaceable, improving a result from [F. J. Garc\'{i}a-Pacheco, M. Mart\'{i}n, and J. B. Seoane-Sep\'ulveda.
