Functional traits and nutrient limitation in the rare mangrove Pelliciera rhizophorae

Aquatic Botany, 2014
Nutrient limitation is a major factor structuring mangrove forests, with nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) limitation causing stunted growth forms around the world. The rare mangrove Pelliciera rhizophorae exists in both fringe and dwarf forms on both coasts of Panama, but the reasons for the differences in growth form are unknown.

Development and characterization of the first microsatellite markers in the mangrove species Pelliciera rhizophorae Triana & Planchon

Molecular Ecology Notes, 2007
Abstract Pelliciera rhizophorae is a unique Neotropical mangrove species belonging to Pelliciera genus. We isolated eight microsatellite loci from this species. All loci were polymorphic and showed three to nine alleles per locus in Colombian Pacific and Caribbean populations. Polymorphic information content ranged from 0.46 to 0.69.

Population Genetic Structure of Neotropical Mangrove Species on the Colombian Pacific Coast:Pelliciera rhizophorae(Pellicieraceae)1

Biotropica, 2005
ABSTRACTPelliciera rhizophoraeis a Neotropical mangrove species whose distribution is mostly restricted to the Pacific Coast, between the Gulf of Nicoya (Costa Rica) and the Esmeraldas River (Ecuador). In the Caribbean, patches ofPellicierahave been found in Nicaragua, Panama, and Colombia.

A Hypothesis to Explain the Reduced Distribution of the Mangrove Pelliciera rhizophorae Tr. & Pl.

Biotropica, 1984
The mangrove Pelliciera rhizophorae had a wide distribution in the Caribbean area until at least the beginning of the Miocene. By the early Pliocene its distribution had been reduced drastically. This reduction in range and its present distribution appears to be related to the influence of past and present climates on soil salinity regimes within the ...
