Amphoteric Cu‐Doping Leading to High Thermoelectric Performance in p‐Type Bismuth Antimony Telluride

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows that Cu plays two opposite roles in p‐type Bi0.5Sb1.5Te3 depending on the processing route. Under thermodynamic‐equilibrium bulk‐synthesis, Cu mainly occupies cation sites, increases hole concentration, preserves mobility, and slightly reduces lattice heat transport. The best‐performing composition among the investigated series reaches

Modulated-bath ac calorimetry using modified commercial Peltier elements [PDF]

open access: yesReview of Scientific Instruments, 2005
We developed a type of ac microcalorimeter based on a modulated-bath technique for measuring the specific heat of small microgram samples in the temperature range from 30 to 300 K, and tested it in magnetic fields up to 14 T. The device is built from a modified commercial Peltier element.

Near‐Infrared Light‐Activated Polydopamine Nanoparticles Conjugated With Transferrin Peptides for Enhanced Brain Accumulation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that Tf‐PDA NPs combine a receptor‐mediated targeting with mild photothermal activation to enhance nanoparticle accumulation in the brain. NIR‐activated Tf‐PDA NPs increase BBB permeability to NPs in vitro and in vivo without inducing cytotoxicity or adverse immune responses.

Analysis of Transient Modes of Peltier Thermoelectric Elements under Various Input Influences

open access: yesMajlesi Journal of Electrical Engineering
Stationary operation of a thermoelectric system is often not economical due to the impossibility of soft adjustment of the microclimate. The aspect makes relevant the research of the transient modes of Peltier elements and thermoelectric systems built on

A low‐cost environmental chamber to simulate warm climatic conditions

open access: yesVadose Zone Journal, 2020
Environmental chambers are used for a variety of experiments in multiple disciplines but are often prohibitively expensive. In this study, we developed an environmental chamber that allows reliable regulation of temperature and relative humidity in a ...

Range Extension of a Bimorph Varifocal Micromirror Through Actuation by a Peltier Element [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Quantum Electronics, 2015
A bimorph varifocal micromirror actuated thermoelectrically by a Peltier element is reported. The single crystal silicon micromirror is 1.2 mm in diameter with a centered 1 mm diameter gold coating for broadband reflection. The actuation principle is capable of varying the micromirror temperature above and below the ambient temperature, which ...

Liquid Crystal Elastomer‐Based Haptic Pixel Arrays at Your Fingertips for Advanced Human–Machine Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We mechanically program liquid crystal elastomer coatings as a stimuli‐responsive and digitally addressable platform for refreshable tactile displays; we validate the perceptual performance of our dynamic device matches conventional static tactile media.
