Insomnia impairs muscle function via regulating protein degradation and muscle clock [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Background: Insomnia makes people more physically unable of doing daily duties, which results in a lack of strength, leads to lacking in strength. However, the effects of insomnia on muscle function have not yet been thoroughly investigated. So, the objectives of this study were to clarify how insomnia contributes to the decrease of muscular function ...

A clear approach: Hemostatic gel as a novel adjunct for pediatric upper gastrointestinal bleeding

open access: yesJPGN Reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Pediatric upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB) is a significant clinical concern, with a mortality rate of approximately 2%. Endoscopic management of UGIB in children includes various techniques such as injections, mechanical devices, thermal therapies, and topical agents.

Cross-modality image synthesis from unpaired data using CycleGAN: Effects of gradient consistency loss and training data size [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
CT is commonly used in orthopedic procedures. MRI is used along with CT to identify muscle structures and diagnose osteonecrosis due to its superior soft tissue contrast. However, MRI has poor contrast for bone structures. Clearly, it would be helpful if a corresponding CT were available, as bone boundaries are more clearly seen and CT has standardized

A New Automated Ultrasound Quantification of Urethral Mobility for Stress Urinary Incontinence

open access: yesJournal of Ultrasound in Medicine, EarlyView.
Objectives Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is a prevalent condition that can significantly affect quality of life. Urethral mobility is an important factor in SUI and transperineal ultrasound (TPUS) imaging can provide clear visualization of this movement; however, its quantification has been limited.

Exploring the significance of "Mudra and Bandha" in pelvic floor dysfunction

open access: yesYoga-Mimamsa, 2014
Pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD) is commonly associated with the weakness of pelvic floor muscles and the supporting connective tissue structures, which may lead to prolapse of the pelvic organs.

Weakly Supervised Universal Fracture Detection in Pelvic X-rays [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Hip and pelvic fractures are serious injuries with life-threatening complications. However, diagnostic errors of fractures in pelvic X-rays (PXRs) are very common, driving the demand for computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) solutions. A major challenge lies in the fact that fractures are localized patterns that require localized analyses.

Relationship among vaginal palpation, vaginal squeeze pressure, electromyographic and ultrasonographic variables of female pelvic floor muscles

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Physical Therapy, 2014
Background: The proper evaluation of the pelvic floor muscles (PFM) is essential for choosing the correct treatment. Currently, there is no gold standard for the assessment of female PFM function.

Pain‐related fear induces aberrant drop jump landing biomechanics in healthy and anterior cruciate ligament reconstructed females

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is a prevalent and debilitating injury typically arising from aberrant biomechanics during landing or deceleration tasks. Pain‐related fear, a component of kinesiophobia, has been associated with poor functional outcomes and altered movement patterns in individuals with ACL reconstruction

Wearable technology identifies differences in change of direction kinetics and kinematics in soccer players with a history of anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose This study investigates change of direction (COD) performance and biomechanics using wearable technology in athletes with a history of anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACL‐R) compared to healthy controls. Methods A within and between subjects' cross‐sectional design was used.

Mid‐Term Outcomes of Cemented Stem and Subtrochanteric Shortening Derotational Osteotomy in Total Hip Arthroplasty for Crowe IV Developmental Dysplasia

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 14, Issue 12, Page 3178-3186, December 2022., 2022
This study aimed to evaluate the outcomes of cemented stem THA with subtrochanteric femoral shortening and transverse derotational osteotomy in patients with Crowe IV DDH. The cemented femoral component showed promising mid‐term follow‐up results. Rather than leading to nonunion, cement leakage may negatively affect bone healing.
