In recent years a high accuracy in measuring the biparietal diameter by ultrasonography has been achieved. As this is only one parameter in forecasting cephalo‐pelvic disproportion a study was made to determine whether the true conjugate can be measured by utrasound with approximately the same reliability as the biparietal diameter.

A Comparative Study of X‐Ray Pelvimetry and CT Pelvimetry
Australian and New Zealand Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, 1991EDITORIAL COMMENT: This paper compares conventional X‐ray pelvimetry with CT pelvimetry and the authors conclude that the latter is preferable due to the lower radiation dose, patient comfort and shorter time of examination; surprisingly they commented that the 2 procedures had no significant difference in cost.Ultrasonography has virtually replaced ...

A Simplified Method of Pelvimetry Using the “Pelvimetry Protractor”
The British Journal of Radiology, 1951A method of pelvimetry is described which is recommended for standardisation. Two radiographic views are required, three if the pelvic outlet is to be measured. Only two measurements are recorded by the radiographer. No calculations are necessary. Procedure.—Metal calipers are applied to the pelvis in the manner suggested by Hederman (1940): (a) At the

Limitations of lateral pelvimetry
Clinical Radiology, 1967Owing to the radiation hazard, curtailment of radiography in obstetrics must be accepted. Clinical assessment of the pelvis does not always compensate for this restriction. Some limitations of lateral pelvimetry are described. A normal or near-normal lateral radiograph may mask a gross pelvic deformity with severe asymmetry.

Abstract 1. 1. Two hundred and forty-two cases of x-ray pelvimetry reported by eighteen different radiologists are reviewed on the basis of the prognostic accuracy of the reporting physician. 2. 2. Three out of four were reported correctly, but almost all of these were in the adequate pelvis with an average-sized baby. 3. 3.

Easily positioned lead shields for lateral and anteroposterior pelvimetric views are described. It is shown that their use results in a considerable reduction in radiation to the maternal ovaries and to all parts of the foetus while still giving the information required: in fact, the dose to the centre of the foetus is reduced to about one-sixth of ...

Pelvimetry by digital radiography
Clinical Radiology, 1985We studied the ability of digital radiographs generated on a computed tomography scanner to replace conventional pelvimetry. Two digital radiographs were usually sufficient to measure the maternal pelvis. The antero-posterior (AP) digital radiograph allowed measurement of the transverse diameter of the pelvic inlet, the interspinous distance and the ...

Pelvimetry — a Squatter's View
Australian and New Zealand Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, 1991EDITORIAL COMMENT: These days there is much talk at antenatal classes and in delivery rooms of the options available to women regarding the position at delivery. Many who give advice antenatally lack delivery room experience, and many who give delivery room advice do not receive the blame for delivery difficulties.

Radiologic Low-Dose Pelvimetry
Acta Radiologica. Diagnosis, 1980In large patient populations from Karolinska Sjukhuset, radiologic pelvimetry data including mean values and correlation of the pelvic diameters have been defined. Overall incidence of contraction and borderline pelvic measurements and the efficacy of selecting by palpation the patients with a narrow pelvis have been evaluated.
