2D modeling of a defective PEMFC

International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, 2011
A dysfunctioning of the heart of the fuel cell might affect the whole system, and thus the demand of electric power. To be able to estimate the damage of the fuel cell, the default has to be detected precisely. As it is well known, the physico-chemical processes involved in proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) are strongly coupled, as such that ...

Pyridine‐based PBI Composite Membranes for PEMFCs

Fuel Cells, 2009
AbstractPolybenzimidazole (PBI) activated with H3PO4 is one of the membranes of choice to replace Nafion® in PEMFCs in order to allow their use above 100 °C. The limits of PBI in terms of acid leaching and low conductivity below 160 °C can be overcome by a proper monomer tailoring, and by the addition of new fillers.

Analyzing microcogeneration systems based on LT-PEMFC and HT-PEMFC by energy balances

Applied Energy, 2013
Abstract This paper focuses on the performance analysis of microcogeneration systems based on the integration between a reforming unit (RFU), consisting of a natural gas steam reforming, and a power unit, based on the PEM fuel cell technology.

Water Problem in PEMFC

2007
Anew generator performing highly-efficient with low (or no) pollutant emission is necessary to resolve the problem of exhaustion of fissile fuel and spreading environmental pollution. Fuel cell has been expected as one candidate of the generator. Among several types of fuel cells polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC), can operate at low ...

Le PEMFC nell’applicazione residenziale

2004
La generazione distribuita su piccola scala può risultare una strategia importante nello scenario produttivo a medio termine. L’impiego di celle a combustibile consente di cogenerare energia elettrica e calore a bassa temperatura direttamente disponibile in loco.
