C."iminal law as the last and the least resort [PDF]

open access: yesFaṣlnāmah-i Pizhūhish-i Huqūq-i Kiyfarī, 2012
Defining the scope of criminal law and legitimated level ofintervention through criminal law over the rights and freedom ofcitizens as the most serious kind of such intervention, is a complicatedand difficult matter.

Intracerebral Hemorrhage Detection in Computed Tomography Scans Through Cost-Sensitive Machine Learning

open access: yesApplied Artificial Intelligence, 2022
Intracerebral hemorrhage is the most severe form of stroke, with a greater than 75% likelihood of death or severe disability, and half of its mortality occurs in the first 24 hours.

A Topology Optimization Framework for the Inverse Design of Nonlinear Mechanical Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work uses topology optimization to design unit cells for mechanical metamaterials with a prescribed nonlinear stress–strain response. The framework adds contact and postbuckling modeling to synthesize microstructures for three highly nonlinear responses, including pseudoductile behavior, monostable with snap‐through buckling, and bistable ...

Unleashing the Power of Machine Learning in Nanomedicine Formulation Development

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A random forest machine learning model is able to make predictions on nanoparticle attributes of different nanomedicines (i.e. lipid nanoparticles, liposomes, or PLGA nanoparticles) based on microfluidic formulation parameters. Machine learning models are based on a database of nanoparticle formulations, and models are able to generate unique solutions

Block Copolymers: Emerging Building Blocks for Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review addresses how block copolymer (BCP) physics and rheology have led to the widespread use of BCPs in advanced additive manufacturing techniques, with particular emphasis on the untapped potential of these nanostructured materials toward achieving multi‐scale architected materials with unique, programmable material properties.

Atropine Penalization Versus Occlusion Therapies for Unilateral Amblyopia after the Critical Period of Visual Development: A Systematic Review

open access: yesOphthalmology and Therapy, 2018
Introduction Amblyopia therapy appears to be most effective in children under the age of 7 years, but results from randomized control trials (RCTs) have shown that occlusion therapy and/or atropine penalization therapy may improve visual acuity in an ...

Suppression of Photo‐Mediated Traps in Integrated Organic Photovoltaic–Photodetector Devices via N‐Type Self‐Assembly‐Driven Interfacial Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Conventional unstable electron transport layers (ETLs) limit self‐powered organic sensors. This work resolves this by developing a n‐type self‐assembled monolayer (SAM), “3‐PAPh”. This SAM forms a chemically stable and structurally ordered interface that fundamentally suppresses defect formation.

Kinetic plasma-wall interaction using immersed boundary conditions

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
The interaction between a plasma and a solid surface is studied in a (1D-1V) kinetic approach using immersed boundary conditions and penalization to model the wall.

Judiciarisation des personnes itinérantes à Québec : une géographie des pratiques policières répressives au service de la revitalisation

open access: yesEchoGéo, 2014
The occupation of public spaces by homeless people is increasingly controlled and repressed by public and private police in several Western cities. This penalization of homeless people is in part connected to changes in urban policies, transformations in
