ABSTRACT High mammographic density is a well‐known risk factor for breast cancer and reduces the sensitivity of mammography‐based screening. While automated machine and deep learning‐based methods provide more consistent and precise measurements compared to subjective Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System (BI‐RADS) assessments, they often fail to ...

HPV‐Adjusted Feature Screening With FDR Control in Head and Neck Cancer
ABSTRACT Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a well‐established prognostic factor in head and neck (HN) cancer, with HPV‐positive patients exhibiting markedly better survival outcomes compared to their HPV‐negative counterparts. While advances in (cancer) genomics have been pivotal to precision medicine, existing gene screening methods for identifying ...

Based on an analysis of eBird records, this study finds that the vocal patterns of tropical forest tinamous are primarily influenced by changes in daylength, with a secondary effect of precipitation. Birds sang more when days were longer or shorter than 12 h and during drier periods, especially in wetter regions.

We used 27 years of data from an insectivorous passerine in southeastern Australia, the superb fairy‐wren Malurus cyaneus, to assess how climate variation influences vegetation productivity and, indirectly, reproduction and survival via potential trophic interactions.

Exercise type, dose and mental health outcomes in youth: Which types and doses are sufficient?
ABSTRACT Background Although experimental evidence supports links between exercise and certain mental health indicators, epidemiological research has focused primarily on the dose–response effect of a single type of exercise, overlooking potential differences across exercise types in their associations with overall and specific mental health outcomes ...

SEMIPARAMETRIC PENALIZED SPLINE REGRESSION
In this paper, we propose a new semiparametric regression estimator by using a hybrid technique of a parametric approach and a nonparametric penalized spline method. The overall shape of the true regression function is captured by the parametric part, while its residual is consistently estimated by the nonparametric part.
