Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.

FCS-MPC Based on Dimension Unification Cost Function

open access: yesEnergies
Finite Control Set Model Predictive Control (FCS-MPC) has the ability to achieve multi-objective optimization, but there are still many challenges. The key to realizing multi-objective optimization in FCS-MPC lies in the design of the cost function ...

The Gerber-Shiu expected discounted penalty-reward function under an affine jump-diffusion model. [PDF]

open access: yes
We provide a unified analytical treatment of first passage problems under an affine state-dependent jump-diffusion model (with drift and volatility depending linearly on the state).

Penalty fuzzy function for derivative-free optimization

open access: yes, 2012
Penalty and Barrier methods are normally used to solve Nonlinear Optimization Problems constrained problems. The problems appear in areas such as engineering and are often characterised by the fact that involved functions (objective and constraints ...

Symbolic Regression and Multi‐Objective Optimization of the Flory–Huggins Interaction Parameter for Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We develop a data‐driven method to derive the mathematical expressions of the Flory–Huggins interaction parameter χ for the swelling behavior of temperature–responsive hydrogels. Starting from initial assumptions of χ, our workflow combines Bayesian optimization, Flory–Rehner theory, and symbolic regression to generate candidate χ expressions.

Penalty Coefficient Adjustment Technique for Extended Ising Machines

open access: yesIEEE Access
We have developed an extended Ising machine that extends the energy function, which is restricted to a binary-quadratic form in conventional Ising machines, to include a variety of penalty functions representing inequality constraints and higher-order ...

Recycling of NiTi Shape Memory Alloys: Fundamental and Technological Aspects of a Vacuum Induction Melting Processing Route

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The present study investigates recycling of NiTi shape memory alloys via vacuum induction melting. An ingot was synthesized from elemental Ni and Ti and subjected to three subsequent remelting cycles. Remelting increases process durations and impurity levels and adversely affects microstructures and functional properties.

Particle Swarm Optimization with non-smooth penalty reformulation for a complex portfolio selection problem [PDF]

open access: yes
In the classical model for portfolio selection the risk is measured by the variance of returns. It is well known that, if returns are not elliptically distributed, this may cause inaccurate investment decisions. To address this issue, several alternative

A Lagrangian penalty function method for monotone variational inequalities [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
A Lagrange-type penalty function method is proposed for a class of variational inequalities. The penalty function may have both positive and negative values. Each penalized subproblem is required to be solved only approximately. A condition under which a

A penalty function method for constrained molecular dynamics

open access: yes, 2006
We propose a penalty-function method for constrained molecular dynamic simulation by defining a quadratic penalty function for the constraints. The simulation with such a method can be done by using a conventional, unconstrained solver only with the ...
