Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

C 0 Interior Penalty Methods [PDF]
C interior penalty methods are discontinuous Galerkin methods for fourth order problems. In this article we discuss various aspects of such methods including a priori error analysis, a posteriori error analysis and fast solution techniques.

Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.

Penalty‐free discontinuous Galerkin method
AbstractIn this article, we present a new high‐order discontinuous Galerkin (DG) method, in which neither a penalty parameter nor a stabilization parameter is needed. We refer to this method as penalty‐free DG. In this method, the trial and test functions belong to the broken Sobolev space, in which the functions are in general discontinuous on the ...

We develop a data‐driven method to derive the mathematical expressions of the Flory–Huggins interaction parameter χ for the swelling behavior of temperature–responsive hydrogels. Starting from initial assumptions of χ, our workflow combines Bayesian optimization, Flory–Rehner theory, and symbolic regression to generate candidate χ expressions.

Stabilized interior penalty methods for the time-harmonic Maxwell equations [PDF]
We propose stabilized interior penalty discontinuous Galerkin methods for the indefinite time–harmonic Maxwell system. The methods are based on a mixed formulation of the boundary value problem chosen to provide control on the divergence of the ...
