Early evolutionary history of the seed
ABSTRACT The seed is an essential stage in the life history of gymnospermous and angiospermous plants, facilitating both their survival and dispersal. We reappraise knowledge of the evolutionary history of the gymnospermous seed, from its origin in the late Devonian through to the well‐known end‐Permian extinctions – an interval encompassing the ...

Surfactant‐modified nanoparticles adsorb at the oil–water interface, enabling interfacial stabilization and microemulsion formation. Abstract This study systematically investigated the interfacial behaviour of silicon dioxide (SiO2) and aluminium oxide (Al2O3) nanoparticles (NPs) functionalized with cationic (CTAB), anionic (SDS), and nonionic (Triton ...

The Wiener and Terminal Wiener indices of trees [PDF]
Heydari \cite{heydari2013} presented very nice formulae for the Wiener and terminal Wiener indices of generalized Bethe trees. It is pity that there are some errors for the formulae.

Minimum eigenvalue of the complement of tricyclic graphs with n-4 pendent vertexes
In order to discuss the minimum eigenvalue of adjacency matrix in the class of complementary graphs of the tricyclic graph with a given order of n and n-4 pendent vertexes, the unique graph whose minimum eigenvalue reaches the minimum is characterized.

Warming caused a significant decrease in monarch fat mass, likely due to an observed reduction in sucrose concentration caused by warming of the nectar. Since sucrose fuels fall migration and overwintering, our results suggest climate warming may reduce migration success and overwinter survival.

The spectral Turán problem about graphs of given size with forbidden subgraphs
Let G be a graph of size m and [Formula: see text] be the spectral radius of its adjacency matrix. A graph is said to be H-free if it does not contain a subgraph isomorphic to H. Let [Formula: see text] be the graph obtained by adding a pendent vertex to

Fast algorithms for min independent dominating set
We first devise a branching algorithm that computes a minimum independent dominating set on any graph with running time O*(2^0.424n) and polynomial space. This improves the O*(2^0.441n) result by (S. Gaspers and M. Liedloff, A branch-and-reduce algorithm

ABSTRACT Amphibians are the most threatened vertebrate class globally. Climate change, agrochemicals, and/or pathogens and parasites are implicated in contributing to amphibian declines, either singly or in combination. We investigated individual and combined effects of elevated temperatures and atrazine (2.0 μg/L) on Lithobates [formerly Rana] pipiens

The Minimal Total Irregularity of Graphs [PDF]
In \cite{2012a}, Abdo and Dimitov defined the total irregularity of a graph $G=(V,E)$ as \hskip3.3cm $\rm irr_{t}$$(G) = \frac{1}{2}\sum_{u,v\in V}|d_{G}(u)-d_{G}(v)|, $ \noindent where $d_{G}(u)$ denotes the vertex degree of a vertex $u\in V$.
