Cacti with Extremal PI Index [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The vertex PI index $PI(G) = \sum_{xy \in E(G)} [n_{xy}(x) + n_{xy}(y)]$ is a distance-based molecular structure descriptor, where $n_{xy}(x)$ denotes the number of vertices which are closer to the vertex $x$ than to the vertex $y$ and which has been the

Quantification of Alkali‐Fluoride Nanoparticle Dissolution in Aqueous Media as a Function of Crystallinity and Surface Modification

open access: yesParticle &Particle Systems Characterization, EarlyView.
Fluoride release kinetics from uncoated and coated β−NaYF4$\ubeta-{\rm NaYF}_4$ and LiYF4${\rm LiYF}_4$ in aqueous solutions are quantified using an ion‐selective electrode coupled to a dialysis compartment. TEM/DLS/ICP‐OES and speciation‐aware modeling complement the fluoride release results.

On the maximum atom-bond sum-connectivity index of unicyclic graphs with given diameter

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics
Let $ G = (V(G), E(G)) $ be a simple connected graph with vertex set $ V(G) $ and edge set $ E(G) $. The atom-bond sum-connectivity (ABS) index was proposed recently and is defined as $ ABS(G) = \sum_{uv\in E(G)}\sqrt{\frac{d_{G}(u)+d_{G}(v)-2}{d_{G}(u ...

Contested heritage landscapes for Arabic language learning in a postcolonial France

open access: yesJournal of Linguistic Anthropology, Volume 36, Issue 1, May 2026.
Abstract This article analyzes the contested and multiple meanings of “heritage” that emerge for advanced Arabic language learners in a postcolonial France. A linguistic life histories approach reveals a fraught duality of privileged access and exclusionary adversity for heritage students of Arabic.

Directing the Mobility of Guest Molecules in Nanoporous Materials by Linearly Polarized Light

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 8, 9 February 2026.
The polarization of light is introduced as a further parameter to dynamically and reversibly control the properties of a photoresponsive nanoporous material. It was used to control the mobility of the guest molecules in the pores of a metal–organic framework.

Nitroxide Mediated Polymerization of Styrene from Ladder‐Like Polysilsesquioxane: Synthesis and Characterization of Inorganic–Organic Hybrid Materials

open access: yesMacromolecular Chemistry and Physics, Volume 227, Issue 3, 16 February 2026.
LPSQ‐Macroalkoxyamines are used both as fillers and as initiators of styrene nitroxide‐mediated polymerization in the preparation of hybrid materials. The effects of this silicon‐based nanostructure on the thermal and viscoelastic properties of the final hybrid materials are presented.

On the Spectral Redundancy of Pineapple Graphs [PDF]

open access: yesSymmetry
In this article, we explore the concept of spectral redundancy within the class of pineapple graphs, denoted as P(α,β). These graphs are constructed by attaching β pendent edges to a single vertex of a complete graph Kα.

How Far Are Two Symmetric Matrices From Commuting? With an Application to Object Characterisation and Identification in Metal Detection

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, Volume 49, Issue 3, Page 1914-1942, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Examining the extent to which measurements of rotation matrices are close to each other is challenging due measurement noise. To overcome this, data is typically smoothed, and the Riemannian and Euclidean metrics are applied. However, if rotation matrices are not directly measured and are instead formed by eigenvectors of measured symmetric ...

Molecular phylogeny and morphological characterization revealed Candolleomyces mianwaliensis Psathyrellaceae, Agaricales, a new species from Punjab, Pakistan

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, Volume 2026, Issue 2, February 2026.
Candolleomyces mianwaliensis is described as a new species from Mianwali District, Punjab Pakistan. The species is characterized by spherical to plane pileus bearing pale orange irregular scales scattered over smooth dark orange surface when young, turning into off‐white scales over brown to dark brown surface towards maturity, and a double membranous ...
