Passive Acoustic Monitoring and Deep Learning Reveal a Lag From Rainfall to Gibbon Song Across a Mosaic Forest Landscape

We deployed passive acoustic monitoring across three forest types in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia, and applied a pretrained deep learning automated detector to identify 83,956 Bornean white‐bearded gibbon (Hylobates albibarbis) great call vocalisations over 18 months.

Homo luzonensis and the role of homoplasy in the morphology of hominin insular species

Abstract Homo luzonensis lived during the upper Pleistocene in the northern Philippines, east of the Wallace line. The few specimens attributed to this species show a mosaic of plesiomorphies for the genus Homo and apomorphies found in upper Pleistocene Homo species.
