A Comprehensive Review on the Significance of Antioxidants and Their Influence on Biopolymer Packaging Films: Recent Advances and Challenges

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 2, March 2026.
Influence of antioxidants‐loaded biopolymer films on food security and extended shelf life. ABSTRACT Autooxidation is a significant cause of quality deterioration in food systems, leading to nutrient loss, off‐flavor formation, textural changes, and overall spoilage.

The NLRP3 Inflammasome: Mechanisms of Activation, Regulation, and Therapeutic Opportunities

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2026.
Diverse diseases converge on NLRP3. We depict a discovery‐to‐clinic track: high‐throughput/phenotypic screens, structure‐guided design, and modality innovation (allosteric inhibitors, interface blockers, degraders) deliver third‐generation, disease‐tailored NLRP3 control.

The Dynamic Evolution of Aortic Intramural Hematoma

open access: yesJACC: Case Reports, 2019
A 64-year-old man was admitted for crushing chest pain. Computed tomography revealed an aortic intramural hematoma, with progression to a penetrating aortic ulcer on day 7 and aortic dissection on day 30.

Endovascular Aortic Repair (EVAR) Method in The Management of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm

open access: yesScripta Score Scientific Medical Journal, 2020
Aortic disease is a collection of diseases of the aorta, which includes aortic aneurysms; acute aortic infections consisting of aortic dissection, intramular hematoma, penetration of atherosclerotic ulcers (PAU) and traumatic injury to the aorta ...

How Does Biological Sex Impact Mucosal Bacterial Infection? Mucosal Defenses and Bacterial Detection

open access: yesImmunological Reviews, Volume 338, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Urinary tract infections possess substantial sex disparities in the incidence, immune response, and progression of infection. Some of these distinctions may be due to sexual dimorphism in mucosal barriers or sex differences in the initial immune response to infection.

Abdominal Aortic Disease Caused by Penetrating Atherosclerotic Ulcers

open access: yesAnnals of Vascular Diseases, 2012
Penetrating atherosclerotic ulcer (PAU) of the aorta is defined as an atherosclerotic lesion with ulceration of the aortic intima and media and rupture of the internal elastic lamina. PAU induced aortic dissection, aortic rupture, and secular aortic aneurysm and typically occurs in elderly hypertensive patients with severe atherosclerosis.

Wound Management and Surgery for Calcific Uremic Arteriolopathy (Calciphylaxis): A Retrospective Observational Cohort Study

open access: yesInternational Wound Journal, Volume 23, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Wound care in calciphylaxis remains poorly defined without evidence‐based consensus on timing and technique of surgical intervention. We demonstrate that surgical debridement and subsequent wound closure are safe and effective in calciphylaxis and describe a systematic multidisciplinary approach to intervention.

Personalized Models of Biological Barriers and Their Diseases: Recent Progress with Organs‐On‐Chips

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, Volume 10, Issue 2, February 2026.
Buck and Bugter et al. explore the architectural diversity and physiological functions of human barrier systems and reveal how organ‐on‐chip platforms, particularly those integrating patient‐derived cells, are advancing barrier disease modeling. They highlight how emerging biological and technological advances can be used to bridge the gap between ...
