Stable, Easy‐to‐Handle, Fully Autologous Electrospun Polymer‐Peptide Skin Equivalent for Severe Burn Injuries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A bioengineered skin equivalent composed of electrospun poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL) and the bioactive peptide Fmoc‐FRGD is developed for severe burn treatment. This scaffold promotes full‐thickness skin regeneration by supporting cellular adhesion and integration. In‐vitro and in‐vivo studies show enhanced mechanical stability, accelerated wound closure,

Sea Otter, Enhydra lutris, mortalities in California, 1968 through 1993 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Sea otter, Enhydra lutris, mortality in California and the relative contribution from specific causes was assessed for the 26 years from 1968 through 1993. There were 2,082 dead sea otters recorded from Tomales Bay (Marin County) south to Bluff Cove (Los

Machine Learning‐Enabled Polymer Discovery for Enhanced Pulmonary siRNA Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study provides an efficient approach to train a machine learning model by merging heterogeneous literature data to predict suitable polymers for siRNA delivery. Without the need for extensive laboratory synthesis, the machine learning enabled a virtual screening and successfully predicted a polymer that is validated for effective gene silencing in

Transverse Cervicothoracic Stabbing: Multidisciplinary Management of a Surgical Emergency

open access: yesTurkish Archives of Otorhinolaryngology, 2017
Tracheobronchial injuries are closely related to orotracheal intubations and chest traumas. Stabbing injuries are very rare and often life threatening because of the damage to vital structures such as the respiratory tract and large arterial or venous ...

Precise Quantification of Angiogenesis in 3D Biomaterials Using in Vitro CAM Models: Enhancing 3Rs in Research and Minimizing in Vivo Dependency

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The study develops elastin–fibrin scaffolds and evaluates angiogenesis using the chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) model. Advanced imaging with confocal microscopy and Indocyanine Green dye enables precise 3D quantification of vascular networks. Findings demonstrate superior microvessel visualization compared to micro‐CT using Microfil and Optiray 350 ...

Magnetically Guided Mechanoactive Mineralization Scaffolds for Enhanced Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D‐printed ‘rebar‐concrete’ inspired scaffold (PGS‐P@MGel) synergizes spontaneous biomineralization with magneto‐mechanical stimulation through PDA@Fe3O4‐embedded hydrogel. This dual biointerface activates Piezo1/β‐catenin/YAP mechanotransduction axis, enhancing BMSCs osteogenesis and angiogenesis simultaneously.
