PENETRATION STUDIES OF ICE WITH APPLICATION TO ARCTIC AND SUBARCTIC WARFARE

open access: closed, 1965
Abstract : Impact tests were made on floating ice slabs with particular attention devoted to the mechanism of penetration. The range of values investigated for the basic parameters was: impact velocity, 8 ft/sec - 21 ft/ sec; projectile mass, 4.56 lb - 5.22 lb and penetrator diameter, 5/16 in. - 1-1/ 4 in.

Signal Measurement of Projectile Penetration Overload Based on Charge Sensor

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
In modern warfare, in order to destroy the target to largest extent, missile warhead is required to explode after penetrating inside the target, therefore, the measurement of mechanical signal during projectile penetration is critical. This paper studies

Prediction of Projectile Interception Point and Interception Time Based on Harris Hawk Optimization–Convolutional Neural Network–Support Vector Regression Algorithm

open access: yesMathematics
In modern warfare, the accurate prediction of the intercept time and intercept point of the interceptor is the key to achieving penetration. Aiming at this problem, firstly, a convolutional neural network (CNN) is used to automatically extract high-level

The Surgical Management in War of Penetrating Wounds Contaminated with Chemical Warfare Agents [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Army Medical Corps, 1994
Military surgeons in a future conflict may face the problem of wounds contaminated with chemical warfare (CW) agents. No useful guidelines for this eventuality exist-nor any assessment of the specific CW risk to such casualties or to the surgical teams operating on them.
