Summary Plasma concentration of penicillin G was evaluated in beef steers after administration of either a combination of benzathine penicillin G and procaine penicillin G in a 1:1 mixture at a dosage of 9,000 U/kg of body weight, im (n = 5), 24,000 U/kg, im (n = 5), or 8,800 U/kg, sc (n = 5), or benzathine penicillin G alone at a dosage of 12,000 U/kg,

Anaphylaxis to Benzathine Penicillin G
Pediatric Asthma, Allergy & Immunology, 2000We report on two military trainees who experienced anaphylaxis following an injection of benzathine penicillin G (BPG). A total of 9203 trainees received a prophylactic dose of BPG over a 6-month period for an incidence rate of 0.022%. One of the trainees experienced biphasic or recurrent anaphylaxis.

Lidocaine as a diluent for administration of benzathine penicillin G
The Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal, 1998Benzathine penicillin G is recommended for secondary prophylaxis of rheumatic fever. Its main disadvantage is local pain and discomfort associated with the injection. Lidocaine as a diluent may reduce this discomfort. We compared the administration of benzathine penicillin G with two diluents; sterile water and lidocaine hydrochloride 1% for penicillin

BENZATHINE PENICILLIN G IN THE PREVENTION OF STREPTOCOCCIC INFECTIONS
Journal of the American Medical Association, 1957The effectiveness of benzathine penicillin G in preventing streptococcic pharyngitis was determined during an epidemic of this disease among military personnel at an air force base. A single intramuscular injection was given to each of 741 men, representing about 10 % of the exposed population.

IMPROVED LOCAL TOLERANCE TO BENZATHINE PENICILLIN G
Pediatrics, 1958Four types of penicillin for intramuscular injection were compared for incidence of local reaction: (1) suspension of benzathine penicillin G, 600,000 units in 1 ml; (2) benzathine penicillin G, 600,000 units, with 5 mg of prednisolone, in 1 ml; (3) benzathine penicillin G, 600,000 units, plus aqueous procaine penicillin, 600,000 units, in 2 ml; and (4)

To the Editor:— In an editorial on page 894 in the Oct. 30, 1954, issue ofThe Journal, I note that a competitive company's benzathine penicillin G is mentioned by brand name in such a way as to imply that no other company supplies this preparation. Cerebrospinal fluid levels of benzathine penicillin G in the neonate
The Journal of Pediatrics, 1977T n E I N C ! D E N C E of congenital syphili s has increased in recent years, 1 prompting renewed interest in the treatment of this entity. One recommended form of therapy is benzathine penicillin G, 100,000 units per kilogram of body weight given in a single intramuscular injection.

REACTIONS FROM MULTIPLE INJECTIONS OF BENZATHINE PENICILLIN G
Journal of the American Medical Association, 1957A comparison was made between two dosage plans for the intramuscular administration of benzathine penicillin G as prophylaxis against rheumatic fever, nephritis, and streptococcic infections in the armed forces. One group of 1,567 men received 600,000 units every four weeks; the other group, of 1,708 men, received 900,000 units every six weeks.

Failure of Penicillin G Benzathine in the Treatment of Neurosyphilis
Archives of Internal Medicine, 1980• Although penicillin remains highly effective in syphilis, important questions exist regarding the optimal regimen for syphilitic involvement of the nervous system. Progression of neurosyphilis despite 7.2 million units of penicillin G benzathine occurred in the case reported here, with subsequent resolution following high-dose intravenous aqueous ...

Penicillin Concentrations in Serum Following Weekly Injections of Benzathine Penicillin G
Chemotherapy, 2009Twelve patients with syphilis were treated weekly with injections of 1.44 g (2.4 x 106 IU) of benzathine penicillin G for up to 3 weeks. Almost daily, serum penicillin concentrations were measured by a sensitive microbiological agar cup method. An individual and interindividual variation was found.
