Periodontitis in patients with severe erectile dysfunction undergoing penile prosthesis implantation: Clinical and immunohistochemical study

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The relationship between periodontitis and erectile dysfunction (ED) has been poorly documented in Caucasian populations, particularly severe ED (SED) requiring penile prostheses. This study aimed to evaluate the association between periodontitis and SED in patients undergoing penile prosthesis implantation, and to identify clinical

Toll Like Receptors in the Larynx: Implications for Laryngeal Immunology

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
TLR were identified in the murine and human vocal fold epithelium with slight differences in localization from true to false vocal folds in humans. In immortalized human vocal, fold epithelial cell cultures, no significant differences in relative gene expression at 24 h were observed – for TLRs 1‐9 and IL8 – with and without LPS stimulation.

In Vitro Behavior of Boron‐Doped Baghdadite/Poly(vinylidene fluoride) Membrane Scaffolds Produced via Non‐Solvent Induced Phase Separation

open access: yesMacromolecular Bioscience, EarlyView.
Boron‐doped baghdadite (BAG)‐loaded polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membrane scaffolds produced by non‐solvent induced phase separation (NIPS) show higher hydrophilicity, bioactivity and cancellous‐bone‐like mechanics. The scalable BAG/PVDF composites offer a versatile alternative to traditional bone grafts for regenerative medicine. Abstract This study

Evaluation of HER2 Targeted Poly(Ethylene Glycol)‐Poly(L‐histidine) Copolymer Micelles in Breast Cancer Models

open access: yesMacromolecular Bioscience, EarlyView.
This study reports on the in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo evaluation of HER2 targeted biodegradable micelle variants, conjugated with trastuzumab, with or without the drug doxorubicin or the dye rhodamine B. Findings indicate enhanced cellular association and efficacy of trastuzumab‐conjugated micelles in HER2 positive breast cancer models, showing ...

A Tissue Engineering's Guide to Biomimicry

open access: yesMacromolecular Bioscience, EarlyView.
This review categorizes biomimicry in tissue engineering into mechanical, morphological, and biological strategies. It explores how each aspect contributes to replicating native tissue function and structure, highlighting current techniques and emerging approaches.
