The Efficacy of Medical Treatment of Peyronie’s Disease: Potassium Para-Aminobenzoate Monotherapy vs. Combination Therapy with Tamoxifen, L-Carnitine, and Phosphodiesterase Type 5 Inhibitor [PDF]

open access: yesThe World Journal of Men's Health, 2016
Purpose: This study was designed to evaluate the efficacy of medical treatment of Peyronie’s disease. Materials and Methods: A total of 109 patients with Peyronie’s disease who had been treated from January 2011 to December 2014 were retrospectively ...

Long-term follow-up of penile curvature correction utilizing autologous albugineal crural graft

open access: yesInternational Brazilian Journal of Urology, 2012
PURPOSE: Peyronie's disease is an acquired connective tissue disorder of the penile tunica albuginea with fibrosis and inflammation. The disease produces palpable plaques, penile curvature and pain during erections.

Seasonal melting and the formation of sedimentary rocks on Mars, with predictions for the Gale Crater mound [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A model for the formation and distribution of sedimentary rocks on Mars is proposed. The rate-limiting step is supply of liquid water from seasonal melting of snow or ice. The model is run for a O(10^2) mbar pure CO2 atmosphere, dusty snow, and solar luminosity reduced by 23%.

Evidence of Periodic Variability in Gamma-ray Emitting Blazars with Fermi-LAT [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
It is well known that blazars can show variability on a wide range of time scales. This behavior can include periodicity in their $\gamma$-ray emission, whose clear detection remains an ongoing challenge, partly due to the inherent stochasticity of the processes involved and also the lack of adequately-well sampled light curves.

Partial Priapism Treated with Pentoxifylline

open access: yesInternational Brazilian Journal of Urology, 2015
Main findings:A 26-year-old man suffering from partial priapism was successfully treated with a regimen including pentoxifylline, a nonspecific phosphodiesterase inhibitor that is often used to conservatively treat Peyronie's disease.Case hypothesis ...

Multiwavelength Analysis of Fermi-LAT Blazars with High-Significance Periodicity: Detection of a Long-Term Rising Emission in PG 1553+113 [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Blazars display variable emission across the entire electromagnetic spectrum, with timescales that can range from a few minutes to several years. Our recent work has shown that a sample of five blazars exhibit hints of periodicity with a global significance $\gtrsim2\,\sigma$ at $\gamma$-ray energies, in the range of 0.1~GeV$<$E$<$800~GeV. In this work,

Systematic search for gamma-ray periodicity in active galactic nuclei detected by the Fermi Large Area Telescope [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
We use nine years of gamma-ray data provided by the Fermi Large Area Telescope (LAT) to systematically study the light curves of more than two thousand active galactic nuclei (AGN) included in recent Fermi-LAT catalogs. Ten different techniques are used, which are organized in an automatic periodicity-search pipeline, in order to search for evidence of

Penile metastasis from rectal adenocarcinoma: a case report

open access: yesBMC Research Notes, 2017
Background Despite its rich vasculature, the penis is rarely involved by metastasis. Since the first description of penile metastasis in 1870, fewer than 500 cases have been reported in the literature.

Fraction-variant beam orientation optimization for non-coplanar IMRT [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Conventional beam orientation optimization (BOO) algorithms for IMRT assume that the same set of beam angles is used for all treatment fractions. In this paper we present a BOO formulation based on group sparsity that simultaneously optimizes non-coplanar beam angles for all fractions, yielding a fraction-variant (FV) treatment plan.

A new technique, combined plication-incision (CPI), for correction of penile curvature

open access: yesInternational Brazilian Journal of Urology
Introduction Penile curvature (PC) can be surgically corrected by either corporoplasty or plication techniques. These techniques can be complicated by post-operative: penile shortening, recurrent PC, painful/palpable suture knots and erectile dysfunction.
