The European honey buzzard (Pernis apivorus) as an ally for the control of the invasive yellow‐legged hornet (Vespa velutina nigrithorax)

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 2237-2247, April 2025.
The predatory effect of the honey‐buzzard affects the reproductive performance of Asian‐hornet colonies, decreasing the density of workers over distance and time. The foraging distances of the honey‐buzzard concentrates within the first 2000 m from nest, which supports the results observed.

Analysis of the wind response to resolved versus parametrized turbulent orographic drag in high‐resolution simulations

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
This study analyzes the impact of orographic drag on the lower atmosphere over moderately complex terrain using high‐resolution ICON simulations. Numerical simulations explore the effects of parametrizations over moderately complex terrain near the Perdigao experiment site and the Serra da Estrela mountain range by comparing km‐ and 100‐m‐scale ...

A radar‐based investigation of precipitation growth and decay in South Korea

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
Within a Lagrangian framework, we quantitatively retrieved and assessed precipitation growth and decay using the South Korean radar network, focusing on spatial patterns over the unique geographical features, including complex topography and land–ocean boundaries. Our findings indicate that the precipitation growth and decay is significantly influenced
