Near‐complete genome assembly of a transformation‐efficient elite inbred line LH244 and its comparison with B73

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
Analysis of a near‐complete assembly of the genome of the highly transformable maize inbred line LH244 revealed its high genetic similarity to B73 and will serve as a much‐needed resource for functional genomics and genome editing of maize. ABSTRACT The highly transformable maize inbred line LH244 represents an attractive model for gene discovery and ...

Nutrient Digestibility and Performances of Frisian Holstein Calves Fed with Pennisetum Purpureum and Inoculated with Buffalo's Rumen Bacteria [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Buffalo's rumen bacteria (BRB) are potential in digesting fiber feed. BRB already adapted well with low quality forages and agricultural byproducts. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of buffalo's rumen bacteria (BRB) consortium inoculated

Aneuploids of Pennisetum typhoides.

open access: yesCYTOLOGIA, 1982
Triploids of Pennisetum typhoides (2n=14) were isolated in the progeny of the cross between autotetraploid and normal diploid. The meiotic instability in the triploid resulted in the recovery of aneuploids in their progeny. Aneuploids having chromosome number ranging from 2n=15 to 19 were observed.

Preference and In Vitro Digestibility of Leaves of Woody Plants by Sheep in the Northern Sudanian Zone

open access: yesJournal of Animal Physiology and Animal Nutrition, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In West Africa, trees and shrubs are important for feeding ruminant livestock during the dry season. This study aimed to determine the in vitro digestibility of organic matter from eight woody species using a gas test with and without the addition of polyethylene glycol (PEG), and evaluate their preference by sheep using a cafeteria test ...

Characterization of interphase nuclei from triploid hybrids between Pennisetum purpureum Schumach and Pennisetum glaucum (L.) R. Br. Caracterização de núcleos interfásicos de híbridos tríploides entre Pennisetum purpureum Schumach e Pennisetum glaucum (L.) R. Br.

open access: yesCiência e Agrotecnologia, 2010
This study evaluated the structure and the volume of interphase nuclei from root meristems of the genotypes of napier grass (Pennisetum purpureum), pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum) and hybrids resultant of such breeding.
