Sugars of pearl millet [Pennisetum americanum (L.) Leeke] grains [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
The sugars in the grains of nine pearl millet cultivars were fractionated through a Biogel column. Five different sugars‘(stachyose, raffinose, sucrose, glucose, and fructose) were identified. Sucrose was predominant in all the cultivars.

Evaluation of millet (Pennisetum glaucum and Pennisetum americanum) starches as tablet disintegrants

open access: yesJournal of Science and Practice of Pharmacy, 2018
Purpose: This study is aimed at evaluating the disintegrant property of locally sourced millet (Pennisetum glaucum (PG) and Pennisetum americanum (PA)) starches in comparison with maize starch BP (MS). Methods: The millet starches were extracted by the wet extraction method and compared with MS as disintegrants at various concentrations (0-12.5%w/w) in

Carbon and nitrogen release from cover crop roots is poorly predicted by their chemical composition

open access: yesAgronomy Journal, Volume 117, Issue 5, September/October 2025.
Abstract Root‐derived carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) release in relation to chemical composition has rarely been quantified in field studies. The objectives of this study were to evaluate C and N release from six summer cover crop roots and to correlate it with their chemical composition. Root decomposition and N release from velvet bean (Mucuna aterrima),
