The oxidative stress caused by atrazine in root exudation of Pennisetum americanum (L.) K. Schum

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety, 2021
Pearl millet (Pennisetum americanum (L.) K. Schum) has been proven as a potential remediation plant of the pollution caused by atrazine. Plants used in remediation can release root exudates to communicate with rhizosphere microorganisms and accelerate ...

Lipid composition of millet (Pennisetum americanum) seeds [PDF]

open access: yesLipids, 1984
AbstractThe composition of lipids extracted from a sample of millet seeds by each of 8 solvent systems is reported. Lipid components were separated by silicic acid column and thin layer chromatography (TLC) and quantitated by analysis of fatty acid methyl esters by gas liquid chromatography (GLC), with heptadecanoic acid as internal standard.

Carbon and nitrogen release from cover crop roots is poorly predicted by their chemical composition

open access: yesAgronomy Journal, Volume 117, Issue 5, September/October 2025.
Abstract Root‐derived carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) release in relation to chemical composition has rarely been quantified in field studies. The objectives of this study were to evaluate C and N release from six summer cover crop roots and to correlate it with their chemical composition. Root decomposition and N release from velvet bean (Mucuna aterrima),

A preliminary survey of primitive crops cultivated in the northern Transvaal of South Africa

open access: yesBothalia: African Biodiversity & Conservation, 1983
The different tribal economies of South Africa rely extensively on a number of primitive crop taxa which are cultivated as a primary food source. The most important of these include  Sorghum bicolor,  Pennisetum americanum, Citrullus lanatus, Lagenaria ...

Land‐Use Change Enhances Organic Phosphorus Pools in Oxisols in Brazil's New Agricultural Frontier

open access: yesSoil Use and Management, Volume 41, Issue 3, July‐September 2025.
ABSTRACT Land‐use types and management systems can affect the availability of phosphorus (P) by modifying its compartments. The aim of this study was to evaluate the organic and inorganic fractions of P in an Oxisol in the Cerrado region of Brazil, considering various land‐use types and management systems and the period of application.

Metabolizable Energy Content of Pearl Millet [Pennisetum americanum (L.) Leeke]

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1987
Three experiments were conducted to determine the nitrogen-corrected metabolizable energy (MEn) content of ground pearl millet [Pennisetum americanum (L.) Leeke]. On a dry matter basis, 40% ground pearl millet was substituted for an equivalent amount of glucose monohydrate (reference substance) to determine MEn using male broiler chicks.

Commodity risk assessment of Taxus baccata plants from the UK

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 23, Issue 2, February 2025.
Abstract The European Commission requested the EFSA Panel on Plant Health to prepare and deliver risk assessments for commodities listed in Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2018/2019 as ‘High risk plants, plant products and other objects’. This Scientific Opinion covers plant health risks posed by plants of Taxus baccata imported from the United

WEED CONTROL IN GENETICALLY MODIFIED GLYPHOSATE-TOLERANT SOYBEAN MANEJO DE PLANTAS DANINHAS EM SOJA GENETICAMENTE MODIFICADA TOLERANTE AO GLYPHOSATE

open access: yesPesquisa Agropecuária Tropical, 2011
The transgenic production systems, as well as conventional systems, require, in addition to chemical control, the adoption of other weed management strategies. This study was developed to evaluate the weed chemical control in glyphosate tolerant soybean,
