Atividade residual de herbicidas aplicados em pós-emergência na cultura da soja sobre o milheto cultivado em sucessão Effect of the residual activity of herbicides applied in post-emergence soybean on pearl millet grown in succession

open access: yesPlanta Daninha, 2011
O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a atividade residual de herbicidas utilizados em pós-emergência da cultura da soja sobre o milheto cultivado em sucessão.

Insights from controlled, comparative experiments highlight the limitations of using BSMV and FoMV for virus‐enabled reverse genetics in rice

open access: yesAnnals of Applied Biology, EarlyView.
Virus‐enabled reverse genetics (VERG) enables transient gene expression modulation in plants but its efficacy varies across species. We evaluated the efficacy of barley stripe mosaic virus (BSMV) and foxtail mosaic virus (FoMV) for virus‐induced gene silencing (VIGS) and virus‐mediated overexpression (VOX) in rice (Oryza sativa).

Evolution of crop phenotypic spaces through domestication

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Summary We used domestication as an in vivo replicated experiment to investigate how divergent selection has shaped the evolution of multivariate phenotypic spaces. We measured 11–57 qualitative and quantitative traits in 13 species, either unique or shared between species, and established a framework for cross‐species comparisons. Our results revealed

Effect of sowing date and genotype on pearl millet yield across semi‐arid regions of Sub‐Saharan Africa

open access: yesCrop, Forage &Turfgrass Management, Volume 12, Issue 1, June 2026.
Abstract In climate change–vulnerable, food‐insecure semi‐arid regions of Sub‐Saharan Africa, limited studies compared the performance of pearl millet [Pennisetum glaucum (L.)] landraces and improved genotypes under staggered sowing to establish their interactions, resulting in a generalization that landraces are lower yielding than their improved ...

Unlocking soybean potential: Enhancing smallholder farmers' yields through rhizobia inoculation and phosphorus fertilizer in Ethiopia

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 1, March 2026.
Abstract Despite the promising potential of soybean [Glycine max L. (Merrill)] production in Ethiopia, smallholder farmers face challenges such as low yields and nutrient deficiencies, which limit their productivity and economic stability. Thus, the objectives of the input diagnosis/demonstration trials were to enhance the yields of smallholder soybean

Speed breeding for pearl millet and wild Pennisetum species with optimized pot size, CO₂ supplementation, and ABA application

open access: yesDiscover Applied Sciences
Pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum, syn. Cenchrus americanus, 2n = 2x = 14) is a crucial cereal food and fodder crop in the semi-arid tropic dryland, yet breeding progress is slow and threatened by climate change.

Enzyme diversity in pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum)

open access: yesTheoretical and Applied Genetics, 1989
The survey of enzyme polymorphism in West African pearl millet cultivars reported by Tostain et al. 1987 has been extended to include populations from other regions of Africa and from India. The eight enzyme systems studied included: alcohol dehydrogenase, β-esterase, catalase, phosphoglucoisomerase, phosphoglucomutase, 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase,

Functionality and Appearance of Sorghum‐Pearl Millet Composite Flour Fortified With Oyster Mushroom for Thin Porridges

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 3, March 2026.
This study investigated the functionality, color, pasting and rheological properties of sorghum–pearl millet composite flour fortified with oyster mushroom. Fortification increased water, oil and swelling capacities, while decreasing pasting viscosities. The color lightness and yellowness improved with increasing oyster mushroom levels.
