An RFLP-based genetic map of pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum) [PDF]

open access: yesTheoretical and Applied Genetics, 1994
Analysis of a sample of diverse pearl millet genotypes with 200 genomic DNA probes revealed this crop species to be extremely polymorphic. Among these genotypes, 85% of probes detected polymorphism using only two restriction enzymes, with an average pair-wise polymorphism between all of the probe-enzyme combinations of 56%. Two crosses were employed to

Enzyme diversity in pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum)

open access: yesTheoretical and Applied Genetics, 1987
Polymorphism in twelve genes coding for eight enzymes in pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum (L.) R. Br.): alcohol dehydrogenases (ADH), catalases (CAT), β-esterases (EST), glutamate oxaloacetate transaminases (GOT), malate dehydrogenases (MDH), 6-Phosphogluconate dehydrogenases (PGD), phosphoglucoisomerases (PGI) and phosphoglucomutases (PGM), was ...

Evaluation of millet (Pennisetum glaucum and Pennisetum americanum) starches as tablet disintegrants

open access: yesJournal of Science and Practice of Pharmacy, 2018
Purpose: This study is aimed at evaluating the disintegrant property of locally sourced millet (Pennisetum glaucum (PG) and Pennisetum americanum (PA)) starches in comparison with maize starch BP (MS). Methods: The millet starches were extracted by the wet extraction method and compared with MS as disintegrants at various concentrations (0-12.5%w/w) in

Enzyme diversity in pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum)

open access: yesTheoretical and Applied Genetics, 1989
The survey of enzyme polymorphism in West African pearl millet cultivars reported by Tostain et al. 1987 has been extended to include populations from other regions of Africa and from India. The eight enzyme systems studied included: alcohol dehydrogenase, β-esterase, catalase, phosphoglucoisomerase, phosphoglucomutase, 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase,

Meiosis in elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum), pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum) (Poaceae, Poales) and their interspecific hybrids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The cultivated and sexually compatible species Pennisetum purpureum (elephant grass, 2n = 4x = 28) and Pennisetum glaucum (pearl millet, 2n = 2x = 14) can undergo hybridization which favors the amplification of their genetic background and the ...

The Late Agricultural Development of Central Arabian Oases—Archaeobotanical and Archaeozoological Studies of the al‐Kharj Oasis

open access: yesArabian Archaeology and Epigraphy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT While oasis settlements emerged during the Bronze Age in Eastern and Northern Arabia, the settlement process in Central Arabia was different. Excavations at al‐Yamāma—main ancient settlement of the al‐Kharj oasis (Riyadh Province, KSA)—suggest that the latter did not emerge before the second half of the first millennium BCE.
