Thermal and Structural Reconstruction of an Eroded Foreland Basin: Central Appalachian Basin, USA
Basin Research, Volume 38, Issue 4, July–August 2026.New low‐temperature thermochronology and modelling reveal a complex thermal history for the central Appalachian Basin. Results indicate Carboniferous exhumation of the fold‐thrust belt and Mesozoic heating in the foredeep linked to the Rome Trough. Deeply buried Devonian source rocks were consequently pushed past the peak oil and gas windows.
