Pharmacodynamics and Biotransformation of Pentaerythritol Tetranitrate in Man

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1971
The absorption, biotransformation, and excretion of pentaerythritol tetranitrate was studied after oral administration of two dosages, 20 and 40 mg., to patients. The drug was given as 14C-pentaerythritol tetranitrate incorporated into tablets of a type used clinically. The total 14C excretion in 48 hr. was approximately 92% of both doses.

Hypothalamically induced hyperlipidemia: Protection by pentaerythritol tetranitrate

Metabolism, 1970
Abstract Pretreatment of rat with the smooth muscle dilating compound pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN) completely prevented the hyperlipidemia of electric stimulation of the lateral hypothalamus usually observed in the choleretic rat. The prophylactic effect of PETN is attributable to its relaxation of the Sphincter of Oddi, preventing functional ...

Thermal Decomposition of Pentaerythritol Tetranitrate

Propellants, Explosives, Pyrotechnics, 2003
AbstractA chemical kinetic model for the thermal decomposition of the solid high explosive pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN) is developed for prediction of times to thermal explosion using the Chemical TOPAZ heat transfer computer code. The model is based on times to thermal explosion measured in a new One Dimensional Time to Explosion (ODTX ...

Solubility of Pentaerythritol Tetranitrate

The Journal of Physical Chemistry, 1958
The solability of pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN) in acetone, aqueous acetone, ethyl alcohol, ethyl acetate, and benzene has been measured as a function of temperature. The data have been analyzed in terms of the equations of solutions relating the temperature coefficient of solubility with the heat of solution of the solute.

Stability Studies on Pentaerythritol Tetranitrate

Propellants, Explosives, Pyrotechnics, 1992
AbstractTyhe influences of acidity and dipentaerythritol hexanitrate (DiPEHN) on the thermal sensitivity of pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN) was studied using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Decomposition kinetics of PETN with or without DiPEHN, acidic PETN and DiPEHN were also studied by SC to evaluate Arrhenius parameters. The presence of
