Functional and genetic evidence that nucleoside transport is highly conserved in Leishmania species: Implications for pyrimidine-based chemotherapy [PDF]
Leishmania pyrimidine salvage is replete with opportunities for therapeutic intervention with enzyme inhibitors or antimetabolites. Their uptake into cells depends upon specific transporters; therefore it is essential to establish whether various ...

Objective The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of prophylactic trimethoprim‐sulfamethoxazole (TMP‐SMX) on the incidence of serious infections in patients with antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody–associated vasculitis (AAV). Methods This multicenter cohort study was designed to emulate a target trial that studied 296 patients with ...

ABSTRACT This study describes the green synthesis, characterization, and biological evaluation of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) obtained from green propolis (AgNPs‐PRO). Before nanoparticles synthesis, a hydroethanolic green propolis extract (GPE) was obtained through ultrasound‐assisted extraction and characterized by high‐performance liquid ...

Identification of PPFIA3 as a Potential Prognostic and Immune Biomarker Through Pan‐Cancer Analysis
This study reveals a significant increase in the expression of PPFIA3 across various cancers, which is associated with poor prognosis. Notably, in patients receiving anti‐PD‐L1 treatment, high PPFIA3 expression is closely linked to improved survival rates and favorable prognosis, suggesting its potential as a predictive factor for immune checkpoint ...

Resistance to pentamidine is mediated by AdeAB, regulated by AdeRS, and influenced by growth conditions in Acinetobacter baumannii ATCC 17978. [PDF]
In recent years, effective treatment of infections caused by Acinetobacter baumannii has become challenging due to the ability of the bacterium to acquire or up-regulate antimicrobial resistance determinants. Two component signal transduction systems are

Our study explores the potential of dauricine, a bioactive compound from Menispermum dauricum, to overcome osimertinib resistance in lung cancer. We demonstrate that dauricine, when combined with osimertinib, induces ferroptosis in resistant lung cancer cells by stabilizing SAT1, a key enzyme in oxidative stress regulation.

Adverse drug reactions (ADRs) are a common cause of morbidity and mortality in hospitalized patients. Identification of ADRs in clinical practice, surveillance and research is essential to prevent further harm. The aim of this study was to assess the likelihood of drugs contributing to clinically important inpatient adverse events, in order to provide ...
