Pentane production by peanut lipoxygenase
Lipids, 1974AbstractPentane and hexanal were the major volatile end‐products of a peanut lipoxygenase and linoleic acid model system and were produced by both crude and purified enzyme preparations. The enzyme system did not require an anerobic condition for the production of pentane and hexanal, thus distinguishing it from other reported systems.

Abstract The reaction of 1,1-dibromo-2,3-bis(chloromethyl)cyclopropane with methyllithium leads initially to ring closure to 1-bromo-2-chloromethylbicyclo[1.1.0]butane. Further reaction leads to an unstable compound which reacts with phenylthiol to give 2-vinyl-1-cyclopropyl phenyl sulfide and undergoes thermal rearrangement at ∼ -50°C to give ...

Density dependence of self-diffusion in liquid pentanes and pentane mixtures
Molecular Physics, 1996Self-diffusion coefficients of cyclopentane and 2-methylbutane (isopentane) were measured in the pure liquids and in an equimolar mixture of the compounds by the Fourier transform NMR spin–echo tec...

The reaction of 1-bromo-2-(chloromethyl)bicyclo[1.1.0]butane with methyllithium was examined. At -78 o C, 1-lithio-2-(chloromethyl)bicyclobutane is formed, and at -50 o C, it reacts to form cyclopentadiene. Evidence is presented that tricyclo[2.1.0.0 1.3 ]pentane, an isomer of [1.1.1]propellane, is formed as an intermediate.

Pentane-1,5-diaminium dibromide
Acta Crystallographica Section C Crystal Structure Communications, 2013The crystal structure of the title salt, C5H16N22+·2Br−, withZ= 12 and more unusuallyZ′ = 3, forms part of a small group of crystal structures in the Cambridge Structural Database that are ammonium bromide salts. One of the diaminium cation chains in the asymmetric unit exhibits positional disorder, which was modelled using a suitable disorder model ...
