A new species of Hexacladia Ashmead (Hymenoptera, Encyrtidae) and new record of Hexacladia smithii Ashmead as parasitoids of Dichelops furcatus (Fabricius) (Hemiptera, Pentatomidae) in Argentina [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Pentatomid adults of the species Dichelops furcatus (F.), collected on stubble of soybean, Glycine max (Linnaeus) Merril, in Santa Fe province of Argentina, were found parasitized by two encyrtid wasp species (Hymenoptera: Encyrtidae).

The impact of land use on the acoustic behaviour of cicadas in the Chocó lowland tropical forest of Ecuador

open access: yesInsect Conservation and Diversity, Volume 18, Issue 2, Page 177-190, March 2025.
Our study revealed a lower cicada sound activity in active agriculture compared to undisturbed old‐growth forest which increased along the forest recovery gradient. Diurnal patterns of cicada singing activity changed from simple in active agriculture to more complex and highly synchronized along the recovery gradient towards old‐growth forests.

Tiny but mighty? Overview of a decade of research on nectar bacteria

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 245, Issue 5, Page 1897-1910, March 2025.
Summary An emerging focus of research at the intersection of botany, zoology, and microbiology is the study of floral nectar as a microbial habitat, referred to as the nectar microbiome, which can alter plant–pollinator interactions. Studies on these microbial communities have primarily focused on yeasts, and it was only about a decade ago that ...

Egg parasitoid exploitation of plant volatiles induced by single or concurrent attack of a zoophytophagous predator and an invasive phytophagous pest [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Zoophytophagous insect predators can induce physiological responses in plants by activating defence signalling pathways, but whether plants can respond to facultative phytophagy by recruiting natural enemies remains to be investigated.

Meiotic behaviour of chromosomes in three predator species of the subfamily Asopinae (Heteroptera: Pentatomidae)

open access: yesComparative Cytogenetics, 2010
The study of chromosome behaviour has been carried out on males of three species of the Asopinae (Pentatomidae) bugs Andrallus spinidens (Fabricius, 1787), Canthecona furcellata Wolff, 1801 and Perillus bioculatus (Fabricius, 1775) collected in India ...

Sensitivity of Immature \u3ci\u3eThyanta Calceata\u3c/i\u3e (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) to Photoperiod as Reflected by Adult Color and Pubescence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Dimorphism in color and pubescence of adult Thyanta calceata, in response to 8L:16D and 16L:8D photoperiods, resulted from an accumulation of photoperiod effects on two or more immature stages. More immature stages were receptive to 8L:16D than to 16L:8D
