Overwintering Does Not Affect Microbiota Diversity in Halyomorpha halys: Implications for Its Ecology and Management

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 17, Issue 3, June 2025.
We challenged the assumption that overwintering significantly alters host microbiota composition, finding no differences between Halyomorpha halys populations sampled before and after overwintering. This microbiota stability underscores its role in the invasive pest's resilience and provides insights for ecological management strategies.

Perillus Bioculatus (Fabricius) (Heteroptera: Pentatomidae) In Serbia

open access: yesActa entomologica serbica, 2012
Abstract In 1996, in order to study flora and vegetation the members of the science-expert expedition to the Prokletije Mt. - locality named Djeravica, collected specimens of Perillus bioculatus (Fabricius, 1775), a new species for the fauna of Serbia. This is the third point in the distribution of P. bioculatus (F.) in the Balkan Peninsula: Bulgaria

The first mitochondrial genome for the subfamily Asopinae (Heteroptera: Pentatomidae) and its phylogenetic implications

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2017
Here, we determined the complete mitogenome of Picromerus griseus, the first for the subfamily Asopinae. This mitochondrial genome contains 16,338 bp, with an A + T content of 71.69%, and contains 37 typical mitochondrial genes (13 protein-coding genes ...

What is the potential for artificial selection of insect biological control traits? A systematic review of their genetic variation, heritability, and evolvability

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 173, Issue 6, Page 463-497, June 2025.
Growing interest in optimizing biocontrol traits, particularly due to Nagoya Protocol constraints, necessitates understanding their heritability and genetic variation. This systematic review of 5209 studies on arthropod biocontrol agents yielded 94 relevant articles, with 42 providing heritability values.

Potentials of some entomopathogens against the brown marmorated stink bug, Halyomorpha halys (Stål, 1855) (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae)

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Biological Pest Control, 2019
The brown marmorated stink bug, Halyomorpha halys (Stål, 1855) (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae), is an invasive harmful pest species due to its economic losses. Its wide host range and continuous movement make its control difficult with insecticides. Biological

Robot‐Aided Measurement of Insect Diversity on Vegetation Using Environmental DNA

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 5, May 2025.
We developed a novel method combining drone‐based sampling and environmental DNA (eDNA) with Oxford Nanopore sequencing to monitor insect biodiversity on vegetation. Using a DJI Matrice 3 drone, we collected eDNA samples from grassland, shrub and forest habitats in Switzerland, detecting 64 insect taxa and revealing habitat‐specific differences in ...
