Journal of Morphology, Volume 286, Issue 5, May 2025.In this study, we provide a detailed description of the embryonic development of Appasus japonicus, focusing on the formation of its specialized mouthparts. We identify homologies between the maxillary plate and maxillary palp and most parts of the stylet‐like mandibles and maxillae are housed within the labial palp.
