Gapless quantum spin liquid and global phase diagram of the spin-1/2 $J_1$-$J_2$ square antiferromagnetic Heisenberg model [PDF]
The nature of the zero-temperature phase diagram of the spin-$1/2$ $J_1$-$J_2$ Heisenberg model on a square lattice has been debated in the past three decades, which may hold the key to understand high temperature superconductivity. By using the state-of-the-art tensor network method, specifically, the finite projected entangled pair state (PEPS ...

Group translocation as a mechanism for sucrose transfer into vacuoles from sugarcane cells.
Isolated vacuoles from sugarcane cells took up uridine diphosphate glucose (UDP-Glc) from the surrounding medium at a rapid rate. After a 7-min incubation of vacuoles with UDP-[14C]Glc, sucrose and sucrose phosphate were identified in the vacuole extract.

Advances in Cytosolic Delivery of Proteins: Approaches, Challenges, and Emerging Technologies
Proteins regulate almost all biological processes, and overcoming the protein's natural membrane inpermeability will provide a unique opportunity for intracellular targeting of related therapeutic proteins. Chemical modification of proteins and different types of delivery vectors can mediate intracellular transport of proteins, providing new ideas for ...

Tensor network representations of fermionic crystalline topological phases on two-dimensional lattices [PDF]
We investigate the tensor network representations of fermionic crystalline symmetry-protected topological (SPT) phases on two-dimensional lattices. As a mapping from virtual indices to physical indices, projected entangled-pair state (PEPS) serves as a concrete way to construct the wavefunctions of 2D crystalline fermionic SPT (fSPT) phases protected ...

Building Projected Entangled Pair States with a Local Gauge Symmetry [PDF]
Tensor network states, and in particular projected entangled pair states (PEPS), suggest an innovative approach for the study of lattice gauge theories, both from a pure theoretic point of view, and as a tool for the analysis of the recent proposals for quantum simulations of lattice gauge theories.

Genomic investigations of successful invasions: the picture emerging from recent studies
ABSTRACT Invasion biology aims to identify traits and mechanisms that contribute to successful invasions, while also providing general insights into the mechanisms underlying population expansion and adaptation to rapid climate and habitat changes. Certain phenotypic attributes have been linked to successful invasions, and the role of genetics has been

Background: High-mobility group protein box 1 (HMGB1) is essential in the response to injury during sepsis. We hypothesized that resveratrol (RESV) administration would inhibit nuclear-cytoplasmic HMGB1 translocation in hepatocytes, which is associated ...

Ferroptosis is a recently recognized type of regulated cell death characterized by iron- and lipid peroxidation-mediated nonapoptotic cell death. However, whether ferroptosis is involved in severe acute pancreatitis- (SAP-) induced intestinal barrier ...

Diatom triacylglycerol metabolism: from carbon fixation to lipid droplet degradation
ABSTRACT Diatoms are a prominent microalgae family that has attracted interest for its production of molecules of biotechnological interest. Their fatty acid profile is rich in health‐beneficial omega‐3 eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). Furthermore, under nutrient‐deprived conditions, many diatom species, notably Phaeodactylum tricornutum, Thalassiosira ...

FAHD1 and mitochondrial metabolism: a decade of pioneering discoveries
This paper reviews a decade of research on FAHD1, an important yet underappreciated enzyme in mitochondrial metabolism. FAHD1 plays a crucial role in energy production, oxidative stress regulation, and processes related to aging and overall health.
