Endomicroscopic and transcriptomic analysis of impaired barrier function and malabsorption in environmental enteropathy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Introduction: Environmental enteropathy (EE) is associated with growth failure, micronutrient malabsorption and impaired responses to oral vaccines.

GSH as an A‐A Type Allosteric Activator of PKM2: Modulating Cancer Cell Homeostasis and Ferroptosis Susceptibility

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 5, 27 January 2026.
Glutathione (GSH) defines oxidative balance, but can it directly tune central metabolism? The research reveals that GSH binds and potently activates pyruvate kniase M2 (PKM2), rewiring glycolysis and dictating ferroptosis sensitivity. Combining GSH depletion with PKM2 activation triggers mitochondrial damage and lipid peroxidation, profoundly ...

Drug hypersensitivity caused by alteration of the MHC-presented self-peptide repertoire [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Idiosyncratic adverse drug reactions are unpredictable, dose independent and potentially life threatening; this makes them a major factor contributing to the cost and uncertainty of drug development. Clinical data suggest that many such reactions involve

Comprehensive Analysis of Malate Accumulation in Peaches in Response to Cold Stress Based on Transcriptomics

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 1, January 2026.
This study explored malate‐accumulation mechanisms in “Hujingmilu” peaches under different storage conditions. Low temperature (LT) delayed firmness decline and maintained higher malate. Transcriptomics showed malate biosynthetic genes weakly correlate with malate levels, while proton pump and transporter genes were up‐regulated under LT.

Domain organization of long autotransporter signal sequences [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Bacterial autotransporters represent a diverse family of proteins that autonomously translocate across the inner membrane of Gram-negative bacteria via the Sec complex and across the outer bacterial membrane.

Unravelling the Significance of Phosphoenolpyruvate Carboxylase in Phosphate Starvation Responses

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, Volume 49, Issue 1, Page 177-192, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Low phosphate availability is a major concern for agriculture. Plants develop a plethora of responses to improve phosphate acquisition, known as phosphate starvation responses (PSR). Among them, the induction of phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase (PEPC) has been described in many plants. However, most studies have been conducted in the absence of

Sequencing proteins with transverse ionic transport in nanochannels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
{\it De novo} protein sequencing is essential for understanding cellular processes that govern the function of living organisms and all post-translational events and other sequence modifications that occur after a protein has been constructed from its ...

Nanomedicines Against Mitochondrial Dysfunction‐Induced Metabolic Diseases

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 48, December 29, 2025.
Mitochondrial dysfunction is central to metabolic diseases. Nanomedicine offers transformative approaches for restoring function via targeted delivery, responsive release, and multimodal therapy. This review outlines the pathological basis, nanocarrier design, organelle‐specific targeting, recent advances, and future clinical translation challenges ...

Molecular dynamics simulations and in silico peptide ligand screening of the Elk-1 ETS domain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Background: The Elk-1 transcription factor is a member of a group of proteins called ternary complex factors, which serve as a paradigm for gene regulation in response to extracellular signals. Its deregulation has been linked to multiple human diseases

Biosynthesis and Application of Catechins and Their Derivatives in Camellia sinensis

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 12, December 2025.
This review summarizes the biosynthesis, structural diversity, and functional properties of catechins in tea. It highlights their tissue‐specific accumulation in different tea tissues and discusses the potential applications of catechin derivatives in functional foods and health‐related products.
