著者らは以前に,ハッカ油中から10種のセスキテルペン炭化水素を分離し,そのうち,β-エレメン,カリオフィレン,δ-力ジネン,γ-カジネンを確認したが,その後未確認成分のうち(+)-e-ムーロレン,(+)-アロマデンドレンを確認し,さらに2種のセスキテルペン炭化水素を新たに分離し, (-)-カラメネンと(+)-α-カラコレンを確認した。また, ペパーミント油高沸点部分を蒸留中に留出してくるアズレンはS-グァイアズレンであることを明らかにした。
