ABSTRACT Gastric perforation is a serious yet rare complication in critically ill patients on mechanical ventilation and GI prophylaxis. This report highlights an unexpected gastric perforation in a patient with a negative barium swallow study while receiving GI prophylaxis during intubation.

ABSTRACT In patients with a history of peptic ulcer, dietary upper gastrointestinal obstruction at the pylorus may occur. Early endoscopic evaluation should be considered when obstruction is suspected, as timely removal of the foreign body can rapidly improve symptoms and prevent complications.

The Prevalence and Characteristics of Infective Endocarditis in Liver Transplant Recipients: Insights From National Inpatient Sample Database

The impact of infective endocarditis in patients with liver transplant needs further inquiry. Analysis of 170 650 patients with LT based on the presence of infective endocarditis was performed. Staphylococcus (18.6%) and Enterococcus (12.8%) were the most common strains identified in patients with IE.
