Accumulation of perfluoroalkyl compounds in Tibetan mountain snow:temporal patterns from 1980 to 2010 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The use of snow and ice cores as recorders of environmental contamination is particularly relevant for per- and polyfluoroalky substances (PFASs) given their production history, differing source regions and varied mechanisms driving their global ...

Association between urinary per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances and COVID-19 susceptibility

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2021
Background and Objective: The growing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has heightened the urgency of identifying individuals most at risk of infection. Per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) are manufactured fluorinated chemicals widely used in many

Role of wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in environmental cycling of poly- and perfluoroalkyl (PFAS) compounds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The role of wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) in environmental cycling of poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) through aqueous effluent, sludge and air emission has been critically reviewed here. Understanding the role of WWTPs can provide better

Prenatal Exposure to Perfluoroalkyl Acids and Serum Testosterone Concentrations at 15 Years of Age in Female ALSPAC Study Participants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Background: Exposure to perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS) or to perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) increases mouse and human peroxisome proliferator–activated receptor alpha (PPARα) subtype activity, which influences lipid metabolism.

Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances in Canadian Fast Food Packaging

open access: yesEnvironmental Science & Technology Letters, 2023
A suite of analytical techniques was used to obtain a comprehensive picture of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in selected Canadian food packaging used for fast foods (n = 42). Particle-induced gamma ray emission spectroscopy revealed that 55% of the samples contained 10 800 μg F/m2.

(β-D-ribofuranosyl)formamidine in the design and synthesis of 2-(β-D-ribofuranosyl)pyrimidines, including RF-containing derivatives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A wide range of novel 2-(β-D-ribofuranosyl)pyrimidines, including RF-containing derivatives, have been synthesized by the reaction of (β-D-ribofuranosyl)formamidine with various dielectrophilic substrates such as 3-alkoxy- and 3-chloro-1-(polyfluoroalkyl)

Shorter duration of breastfeeding at elevated exposures to perfluoroalkyl substances [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The aim of this study was to determine whether maternal exposure to persistent perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) affect the capability to breastfeed. In two Faroese birth cohorts (N=1,130), concentrations of five PFASs were measured in maternal serum ...
