Association between line per se and testcross performance for eight agronomic and quality traits in winter rye

Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 2013
We investigated associations between line per se and testcross performance in rye and suggested that selection for per se performance is valuable for several traits in multi-stage selection programs. Genotypic correlation between line per se and testcross performance is an important quantitative-genetic parameter for optimizing hybrid breeding programs.

Per Se performance of parents and hybrids in maize for grain yield characters

Madras Agricultural Journal, 2000
per se performance of 90 hybrids that resulted from 10 parents crossed in a diallel fashion was studied for eight characters. Maximum grain yield per plant was recorded by the cross Prabhath 1 x. UMI 492. The cross which included UMI 760 and Prabhat 1 as parents showed signficant increase in grain yield, plant height, number of grain rows per cob, cob ...

Family Per Se Response to Selfing and Selection in Maize Based on Testcross Performance: A Simulation Study

Crop Science, 1998
Determining the appropriate number of lines to retain across generations during inbred line development in maize (Zea mays L.) is crucial for efficient allocation of resources. Although the primary interest during line development is performance of testcross progeny, genetic information on lines per se adds to basic understanding of the genetic ...

Relationships between line per se and testcross performance for agronomic traits in two broad-based populations of maize

Euphytica, 2007
Degree of the association between line per se performance (LP) and testcross performance (TP) is important in breeding programs and simultaneous improvement of commercial hybrids and their parental lines. This experiment was designed to study genetic variability and genetic correlation for several agronomic traits in two maize (Zea mays L.) broad-based

STUDY OF HETEROSIS IN RELATION TO COMBINING ABILITY AND per se PERFORMANCE IN RAINFED RICE

Madras Agricultural Journal, 1984
A Study was made of the heterosis in relation to combining ability and per se performance for yield and six compenent traits in the varietal hybrids obtained in e diellel cross of 12 varieties observed for all characters. The highest heterosis of 165 per cent was observed for productive tillers followed by penicle weight, grains per panicle, plant ...

Assessment of per se Performance of Gomphrena (Gomphrena globosa L.) Genotypes for Productivity and Quality traits

Journal of Krishi Vigyan
AbstractAn experiment was conducted to evaluate 13 Gomphrena genotypes for qualitative and quantitative traits at College of Horticulture, Bagalkot in a randomized block design with three replications during 2022. Observations were recorded from each genotype for both qualitative and quantitative traits.

Estimation of per se Performance of Yield, It’s Attributes and Quality Traits in Kodo Millet (Paspalum scrobiculatum L.)

Journal of Experimental Agriculture International
In present investigation, 30 genotypes of kodo millet were characterized at both morphological and quality level to identify the predominant genotypes in terms of yield and its attributing traits along with nutrient content. Kodo millet is valued for its nutritional richness and stress tolerance, offering an affordable source of protein, minerals, and ...
