The effect of textured background and perceived distance on perceived size
Vision Research, 2022The perceived size of an object depends on its spatial context, in addition to its projected image on the retina and perceived distance. However, how these factors interact with each other to affect perceived object size is still not clear. In this study, we manipulated the binocular disparity of images to assess the effect of perceived distance on ...

The Effect of Sweeteners on Perceived Viscosity
Chemical Senses, 1995Two different sweeteners, sucrose and aspartame, were matched in perceived sweetness intensity. These solutions were thickened with carboxymethylcellulose to six different viscosity levels. Sucrose and aspartame appeared to decrease perceived viscosity of the solutions at a specific sweetener concentration, at all viscosity levels. However, in a second

Effect of surround on perceived saturation
Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1974This investigation examines the effects of having a light or dark surround around a color; in particular, the effect these surrounds have on the perceived saturation of the color. The results of the experiments show that a dark surround not only increases the apparent brightness of a color but also reduces its apparent saturation.

Effects of speech on perceived capability
Proceedings of the 2014 ACM/IEEE international conference on Human-robot interaction, 2014Domestic robots have an increasing presence in the home each year [10]. For these robots to be accepted, their capabilities must match our expectations [1, 5]. However, there is often a mismatch between a robot’s true capability and its perceivedcapability (i.e. how capable users believe the robot to be) [2, 6].

Effects of perceived diversity on perceived organizational performance
Employee Relations: The International Journal, 2019PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to investigate the association between constructs of employee perception of diversity (EPD) and perceived organizational performance (POP) through components of organizational justice over different hierarchal levels and also across the private and public healthcare sector organizations. Additionally, this study also

Effect of Perceived Brightness on Perceived Time
Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1986When light intensity demarcating a 1-sec. interval was increased, there was an increase in the perceived duration of the interval. The increase in perceived duration occurred whether the light intensity was physically increased or perceptually increased through brightness enhancement.

Effect of Perceived Size upon Perceived Brightness
Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1980The increase in perceived size which occurs with an increase in perceived brightness has been known for some time. A reverse effect—an increase in perceived brightness with a decrease in perceived size—is demonstrated.
