Weaving Intelligence: Thermally Drawn Multimaterial Fibers Toward AI‐Enabled Smart Textiles

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Thermally drawn multimaterial fibers are rapidly advancing as intelligent structural units for next‐generation smart textiles. Integrating multimaterial architectures with neuromorphic and spiking‐neural‐network principles enables fabrics that can sense, compute, and adapt autonomously.

Designable van der Waals Crystal for Artificial Neuronal Cell Mimicking

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Designable van der Waals crystal has been demonstrated for device‐scale neuronal cell mimicking. The structural similarity between ion‐channel in biological membranes and layered vdW lattices is realized with nano‐crystallization via Ar + H2S plasma sulfurization.

Steric Coordination Modulated Iodine Chemistry With Four‐Electron Conversion for Zinc‐Iodine Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A dual‐additive electrolyte strategy is developed to address the hydrolysis of I+ in the aqueous electrolytes. The steric‐hindrance effect of TES− effectively shields I+ from nucleophilic attacks by hydroxyl groups, facilitating the reversible I−/I0/I+ conversion with four‐electron transfer.

Perceptual Conformity in Facial Emotion Processing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The ability to recognize and respond quickly to visual signals of threat is critical for survival. Threatening faces are hypothesized to capture visual attention more rapidly than nonthreatening faces.

Surface‐Functionalized LLZO‐Incorporated Multilayer Composite Solid Electrolytes for Dendrite Suppression and Efficient Ionic Conduction in Lithium–Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A soft–hard tri‐layer composite electrolyte that couples fast Li+ transport with reinforced interfacial stability to enable high‐conductivity, mechanically robust, dendrite‐free lithium‐metal batteries. ABSTRACT The development of solid polymer electrolytes is central to safe, high‐energy lithium‐metal batteries (LMBs); however, persistent challenges ...

Perceptual distortions characteristic of Alice in Wonderland syndrome in contemporary figurative painting

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychiatry
BackgroundAlice in Wonderland syndrome (AIWS) is a neurological condition characterized by perceptual distortions, most of which are visual in nature (metamorphopsias).

When insight just won’t come: The failure of visual cues in the nine-dot problem. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The nine-dot problem is a classic in the field of human problem solving. Cognitive accounts of the problem's difficulty have been criticized on the grounds that the experimental methods on which they rely for support involve a qualitative change to the ...

Developmental disorders

open access: yes, 2002
Introduction: Connectionist models have recently provided a concrete computational platform from which to explore how different initial constraints in the cognitive system can interact with an environment to generate the behaviors we find in normal ...

Transducers Across Scales and Frequencies: A System‐Level Framework for Multiphysics Integration and Co‐Design

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Transducers convert physical signals into electrical and optical representations, yet each mechanism is bounded by intrinsic trade‐offs across bandwidth, sensitivity, speed, and energy. This review maps transduction mechanisms across physical scale and frequency, showing how heterogeneous integration and multiphysics co‐design transform isolated ...
