Alcuni meccanismi cognitivi tra psicologia, arte e psicoanalisi
Several mechanisms of perceptual and cognitive relevance which are often activated during artistic fruition are illustrated. These are phenomena of ambiguity, incongruity and masking, largely clarified in their dynamics by perception and thinking ...

Localist but Distributed Representations [PDF]
A number of examples are given of how localist models may incorporate distributed representations, without the types of non-local interactions that often render distributed models implausible.

Waveguide Photoactuators: Materials, Fabrication, and Applications
Waveguide photoactuators convert guided light into mechanical motion. Their tethered‐flexible design enables minimally invasive surgery and confined‐space robotics. This review aims to guide materials selection, device design, and system integration, accelerating the transition of waveguide photoactuators from laboratory prototypes to versatile ...

Investigating neurophysiological correlates of metacontrast masking with magnetoencephalography
Early components of visual evoked potentials (VEP) in EEG seem to be unaffected by target visibility in visual masking studies. Bridgeman's reanalysis of Jeffreys and Musselwhite's (1986) data suggests that a later visual component in the VEP, around 250

Generalized Perceptual Linear Prediction (gPLP) Features for Animal Vocalization Analysis [PDF]
A new feature extraction model, generalized perceptual linear prediction (gPLP), is developed to calculate a set of perceptually relevant features for digital signal analysis of animalvocalizations.

A Soft Robotic Fish With a Dielectric Elastomer Actuator Body and Negative Stiffness Spine
This work introduces a bio‐mimetic soft robotic fish driven by fiber‐reinforced dielectric elastomer actuators integrated as its body. By prestretching this active skin against a flexible spine, a negative stiffness system is created, enabling large‐amplitude bending.

This work presents the MicroRoboScope, a highly integrated, compact, and portable microrobotic experimentation platform combining electromagnetic and acoustic actuation with real‐time visual feedback into a single, end‐to‐end device. The system enables closed‐loop control and tracking algorithm experimentation within an accessible and unified hardware ...
