Structural Tuning of Self‐Conductive Polymer as Gas Diffusion Layer for Electrocatalytic Reactions at High Current

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐conductive, all‐polymer, hydrophobic gas diffusion layer is prepared by electropolymerizing a porous poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) layer onto a porous polytetrafluorethylene substrate. The gas and charge transport properties are effectively tuned by the identity of the ionic dopant in the PEDOT layer, which ultimately enables stable ...

Investigating Terrestrial and Extraterrestrial Bioremediation through Microbial Action Using Raman Spectroscopy

open access: yesChallenges
Sodium perchlorate is a toxic salt-based compound found both terrestrially, (due to pollution) and extraterrestrially on the surface of Mars. Perchlorate pollution poses a risk to agricultural-based activities as once it enters soils/waterways it can be ...

Surface Activation of High‐Entropy Alloy Nanoparticles Using ns‐Pulsed UV Laser Postprocessing for Enhanced Water Splitting and Fuel Cell Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
Pulsed UV laser irradiation induces surface modifications of high‐entropy alloy nanoparticles, increases surface charge density and catalytic performance, and results in a tenfold higher oxygen reduction reaction current density together with a 100 mV lower oxygen evolution reaction overpotential.

High performance ammonium nitrate propellant [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
A high performance propellant having greatly reduced hydrogen chloride emission is presented. It is comprised of: (1) a minor amount of hydrocarbon binder (10-15%), (2) at least 85% solids including ammonium nitrate as the primary oxidizer (about 40% to ...

Bio‐Inspired Pancreas With Microfluidic Multi‐Component Hydrogel Microfibers for Exploring Pancreatic Exocrine and Endocrine Interactions

open access: yesAggregate, EarlyView.
A bionic pancreas model incorporating core‐shell microfibers that encapsulate pancreatic stellate cells (PSCs) and β‐cells provides valuable insights into PSCs activation, cell‐cell interactions, and diabetes progression. Furthermore, the potential of this bio‐inspired pancreas for drug screening is demonstrated by testing with a glucagon‐like peptide ...
