Understanding the Roles of Microstructure and Viscoelasticity of Soft Ionic Elastomer for Super‐Capacitive Pressure Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By engineering the PVA/H3PO4 ionic elastomer with optimized viscoelasticity and a height‐graded microstructure, the pressure sensor achieves a broad linear range up to 2000 kPa and a high sensitivity of 2.70 nF/kPa. These advancements underscore its strong potential for wearable electronics, including bio‐signal detection, health monitoring, and ...

A parametric study for the design of an optimized ultrasonic-percussive planetary drill tool [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Traditional rotary drilling for planetary rock sampling, in situ analysis, and sample return are challenging because the axial force and holding torque requirements are not necessarily compatible with lightweight spacecraft architectures in low-gravity ...

Musical instrument classifier for early childhood percussion instruments

open access: yesPLoS ONE
While the musical instrument classification task is well-studied, there remains a gap in identifying non-pitched percussion instruments which have greater overlaps in frequency bands and variation in sound quality and play style than pitched instruments.

Management of severe low back pain with a focused vibro‐percussion wave treatment: A case report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, 2021
A 49‐year‐old male with severe low back pain (LBP) showed multilevel disc bulges with spinal stenosis. After 18 novel low‐frequency sound wave treatments, initial VAS pain score of 9.5 reduced to 2.5 and the Rolland‐Morris score of 13 reduced to 3.

Immunoaffinity‐Mimetic Assembly of Peptide‐Aptamer Conjugates and Stem Cell‐Derived Exosomes into Hierarchical Microgels for Spinal Cord Injury Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inspired by antibody‐antigen binding, this study develops an unprecedented immunoaffinity‐mimetic assembly strategy, with Peptide‐AptCD63 conjugates acting as antibody surrogates binding CD63 epitopes on mesenchymal stem cell‐derived exosomes. This creates a hierarchical microstructure intended to synergistically integrate antioxidative and anti ...

High-frequency percussive ventilation in acute respiratory failure

open access: yesERJ Open Research
IntroductionHigh-frequency percussive ventilation (HFPV) is a ventilation mode characterised by high-frequency breaths. This study investigated the impact of HFPV on gas exchange and clinical outcomes in acute respiratory failure (ARF) patients during spontaneous breathing, noninvasive ventilation (NIV) and invasive mechanical ventilation (iMV ...
