Gut‐microbiota‐brain Axis and post‐traumatic epilepsy
Abstract There has been growing evidence that perturbations in gut‐microbiota‐brain axis (GMBA) are involved in mechanisms of chronic sequelae of traumatic brain injury (TBI). This review discusses the connection between GMBA and post‐traumatic epilepsy (PTE), the latter being a common outcome of TBI.

Artificial intelligence in preclinical epilepsy research: Current state, potential, and challenges
Abstract Preclinical translational epilepsy research uses animal models to better understand the mechanisms underlying epilepsy and its comorbidities, as well as to analyze and develop potential treatments that may mitigate this neurological disorder and its associated conditions. Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative tool across

Calculation of Natural Frequencies of Retaining Walls Using the Transfer Matrix Method
The dynamic response magnitudes of retaining walls under seismic loadings, such as earthquakes, are influenced by their natural frequencies. Resonances can occur when the natural frequency of a wall is close to the loading frequency, which could result ...

Abstract Objective Traumatic brain injury (TBI) can induce posttraumatic epilepsy (PTE), but early biomarkers for epileptogenesis are lacking. We aimed to investigate electrographic biomarkers before and during posttraumatic seizure development. Methods We used a repetitive diffuse TBI model in mice with continuous video‐EEG monitoring up to 4½ months ...

High-frequency percussive ventilation in cardiac surgery patients failing mechanical conventional ventilation† [PDF]
Failure of mechanical conventional ventilation (MCV) after cardiac surgery portends a dismal prognosis, with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation frequently utilized as a salvage therapy. We describe our experience with high-frequency percussive ventilation (HFPV) as a rescue therapy for hypoxaemia refractory to MCV after cardiac surgery. In a 6-year ...
