Percutaneous Arterial Closure Devices

Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology, 2003
Advances in interventional angiography such as covered stent technology and adjunctive anticoagulation and antiplatelet therapy for arterial recanalization have reached the margins of percutaneous application. In these circumstances, compression methods of arterial closure require prolonged compression or long arterial sheath dwell times that increase ...

Percutaneous closure of ventricular septal defects

Cardiology in the Young, 2007
Background: Surgical closure of ventricular septal defects has been performed for many years, and is considered as the gold standard for treatment. It remains associated with morbidity and mortality. Transcatheter techniques have been developed in the last 10 years as a possible alternative to conventional surgery.

Percutaneous closure of a Blalock-Taussig shunt

Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology, 1984
The technique used in the percutaneous closure of a Blalock-Taussig shunt in a 4-year-old child is described. After selective catheterization of the subclavian artery leading to the shunt, a spring coil was inserted which completely occluded the shunt.

Percutaneous Closure of Patent Ductus Arteriosus

Clinics in Perinatology, 2022
Percutaneous-based patent ductus arteriosus closure is technically feasible among infants less than 1.5 kg. However, marked heterogeneity in the type and nature of adverse events obscures current safety profile assessments. Although data on the risks of postdevice closure syndrome remain promising, a lack of comparative trials of surgical ductal ...

Percutaneous closure of hypertensive ductus arteriosus

Heart, 2010
Background The Amplatzer duct occluder (ADO) has been used with success to close large patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), but some problems exist especially with hypertensive PDAs, such as incomplete closure, haemolysis, left pulmonary artery stenosis, obstruction of the descending aorta and progressive pulmonary ...

Complications associated with percutaneous closure devices

The American Journal of Surgery, 1999
In an effort to reduce time to hemostasis after angiography, several closure devices have been marketed. We report some of their complications.A retrospective review was conducted.Over an 8-month study period, 2,181 diagnostic and interventional procedures were performed. Closure devices were used in 408 (19%) of these patients.

Current Status of Percutaneous PFO Closure

Current Cardiology Reports, 2014
The clinical significance of persistent patent foramen ovale (PFO) is not well defined. Empirically, PFO has been associated with many clinical conditions. In cryptogenic stroke, migraine, and orthodeoxia/platypnea, a plausible biologic mechanism exists to support PFO closure as a possible treatment.

Difficult Percutaneous Closure of Axillary Access

Journal of Invasive Cardiology
This case illustrates step-by-step troubleshooting in difficult axillary access closure. A standard balloon-assisted dry closure technique; escalation of wire support; trial of different closure devices with understanding in their mechanisms of failure; meticulous deployment of closure devices under fluoroscopy; a novel approach in deliverance of Angio-

Percutaneous closure of tricuspid paravalvular leak

Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, 2013
While transcatheter closure of mitral and aortic paravalvular leaks has been well‐described, there are no prior reports of such procedures for prosthetic tricuspid valves. We describe our experience with percutaneous closure of a tricuspid paravalvular leak in a 34‐year‐old patient with a history of tricuspid atresia. He had previously undergone repair
